Hello, my Merlin fans, I am back!
I am so sorry it's been about 2 years since I've last updated. That is no excuse and I am truly sorry. I defiantly feel like I need a break from life. The stress and life are really getting to me.
Also, I want to thank OtherCharacterNut for helping me with this story. You guys really need to read her stories. Again, the next chapter will take some time because of life and my next update is my "Red Rose Nightmare" story. Please be patient with me. Sorry for any grammar mistakes.
This is the last part of the episode Excalibur!
Also, I do not own anything and the songs except my OCs Sam, Courtney and many more.
SAM'S POV
I sat at the table just looking at my bowl of vegetable soup. I didn't even touch my spoon. I was so depressed that I couldn't save those two knights. The image of the last knight's mother wailing for her dead son was killing me. It was my fault! Maybe that stupid dragon was right. I was a burden to this world and my knowledge of the show wasn't helping at all.
"Samantha, you need to eat," he said, but I barely noticed Gaius placing the plate of fresh bread in front of me.
Without looking up, I replied softly, "I'm not hungry."
He sighed as he looked at me full of concern. He knew I felt guilty but didn't know how to get me out of this funk. Merlin walked into the room all immediately started pacing.
"You were right," he said to our uncle.
"I wish I wasn't."
Merlin continued to pace in circles. "If Arthur fights that thing, he'll die."
"He is going to die," I said as I played with my soup spoon.
Gaius looked at me sternly and said, "Now enough of your sorrow. Arthur is Camelot's strongest warrior. If anyone can defeat it, he can."
Something inside of me snapped. I slammed the spoon down. "I tried to save those knights! I tried to protect them! But even my own magic didn't stop him! The Black Knight still killed them, even with my protection spells!" I looked to see Gaius and Merlin's shocked and concerned faces. I looked down at my hands to see them shaking. I was scared. "I failed. My magic is not strong, which makes me useless."
Merlin placed his hand on my shoulder and gave it a squeeze. "You didn't fail, Sam, and you're certainly not useless."
I looked up at my brother and I started to cry. "I'm scared, Merlin."
He immediately wrapped his arms around me. As he continued to comfort me, I heard him say to Gaius, "You said yourself, no mortal weapon can kill it. Which means we have to find a way to defeat the wraith ourselves."
Gaius paused a moment, then asked, "How do you propose to do that?"
"If no mortal sword will kill it... then I will." I looked up to see Merlin running into our bedroom to fetch our magic book. "With mortal magic."
"No, it's too dangerous," said Gaius.
"Merlin, my magic couldn't stop him. How do you think yours will?" I questioned softly.
Merlin turned to me and said with a determine voice, "If not yours or my magic alone, both of our combined power will stop him." I looked down at my shoes in uncertainty. He placed his hand under my chin and lifted it up to meet my eyes. "Sam, we don't have a choice. We must try."
When it was nightfall, Gaius left on his own mission to try to tell Uther that Arthur needs to know the truth of his birth and his mother's death, while Merlin and I snuck into the training grounds. I was tempted to bring my invisibility cloak, but I decided it wasn't necessary in the darkness.
