The Theater Hall was just as grand as one would expect the Masen’s to attend.

A towering and well-lit building pouring with people dressed in their finest, and most uncomfortable, of clothing. Had Jacob been dressed in his usual clothing he would have felt incredibly out of place and he was not one to scare of easy, given he was used to just wearing a pair of ripped of jean shorts, or even just naked on occasion, around fully dressed people. It took a lot to make someone like him uncomfortable.

As they pulled up the car a worker of the theater came over, likely some form of Vale. A service that Jacob noticed no one else receiving tonight. He forgets just how rich and influential the Masen were at times. The man first came around to Elizabeth’s door and opened it for her. He didn’t bother with Mr. Masen’s however as he was quick to let himself out to come stand by his wife. The man then moved over open Edward’s door. Backing away so he could step out. Then Jacob came out the car last. The Vale, if that’s what they called it in this time, didn’t hide his shock in time for Jacob to miss it. However, he seemed experienced and smart enough not to comment.

Jacob watched as Mr. Masen handed the keys over to the man before telling him what booth they were in so he could return them to them once he was done. Very different from the Vale service in Jacob’s time where they would have kept the keys until the end of the night. He guesses people were not as inclined to trust a business with their car keys for that long.

As they were getting ready to go in Jacob noticed very quickly as the Masen’s seemed to almost take a formation around him. Mr. Masen directly in front of him with only enough space between them to make walking easy. Elizabeth unbashfully threading her arm through his on his right side and Edward doing the same on his left. Jacob almost pulled away knowing just how socially unacceptable that was. Elizabeth being a married white women and Edward being a man. However, when he tried to slip his arms away from them, both locked their own arms even tighter around him. He could have broken the hold but not without pushing them a bit. He was about to comment when Mr. Masen spoke up just loud enough for them to hear and no one else.

“Don’t worry about it, Jacob. Just trust us.” He said not even bothering to look back at them.

Jacob raised an eyebrow and looked over at both Edward and Elizabeth on his side but they didn’t look back instead they looked forward with confidently held chins and look in their eye and demeanor that Jacob recognized as their ‘high society’ persona. He decided to trust them and just adopted the same air. Relaxing in their hold and walking just as confidently. Deciding that he was not going to show any shame at being so close with the family around him.

He didn’t look at the reactions of the people around them. Following the Masen’s leads of being unconcerned with once again being the center of attention. However, it wasn’t like he could turn his ears off. It was a lot harder to ignore their words when you have super hearing.

“Who is that man? His kind isn’t typically welcome here.”

“What’s so special about him to get entry?”

“How inappropriate for them to be touching like that. They should be ashamed of such behavior, not flaunting it.”

“Are they just going to pass the line like that?”
