Chapter 3: jake's test aftermath

"Ma-am. Can I speak to you privately for a minute?" The head scientist hastily said to jakes mom...or at least..what's left of jake at the moment.

A quick silent and intense stare from the scientist was all that jakes mom needed to come with him for answers.

Meanwhile jakes little sister is assessing the situation of jake himself and trying to calm him down which the scientists didn't mind.

"What did you say your name was..?" Maralyn curiously questioned

"B-bingo. M-My name is bingo."

Maralyn thought about this. She thought about all the things leading up to this confusing point. What did mom say about the machine? Something something multiple universes, something something infinite amount- she then stopped herself to think about what happened just before everything went wrong. With her plushie of...bingo....infinite universe's...

She then turned her head to her brother now knowing what she'd done. She'd accidentally used her bingo plushy to have jake and bingo swap minds across the multiverse.

But while she was piecing everything together, bingo was huddled in the corner attempting to Acclimate to her new body

She tries to get to her level on the ground and talk to her

Maralyn-"this must be pretty scary huh, bingo."

Bingo-"y-yeah"

Maralyn-"do you want to talk about it? I think I might know what happened."

Bingo-"really..?"

Maralyn-"yeah. But you have to answer one question so we are on the same page: What did you know about the machine before you used it?"

Bingo-"well...my mum told me I could use it to see what it was like if monkeys walked like dogs."

Maralyn had to do some mental gymnastics to figure out bingo meant "on two legs".

Maralyn-"I think what happened is that instead of seeing what that world would look like, something went wrong and instead you swapped places with one of them."

Bingo-"then who am I right now? And how can I get home?"

Maralyn-"right now you're in the body of my older brother. But for your second question, I don't know the answer to that. But by the looks of it, it might take a while."

Tears were welling up inside bingo's eyes but were stopped by an interesting question:

"if I am your older brother, does that mean back in my world your older brother is me??"
