STRANGE, celeste

'Isn't it strange how people can change'

Third Person POV

HOPE TREKKED THROUGH THE WOODS with a small makeshift bag hanging from her side. She decided not to wake Ash, in hopes of surprising her with her favorite treat, deer slathered in a blend of 4 different kinds of berries. She had no idea why the girl craved such a random and unthinkable combination, but nevertheless, she is happy to get it for her.

As she plucked the mulberries from its flowers, she thought of the beautiful redhead girl that she thought of as family. She had taken her in after yet another complaint and sleepover suggestion from the girl when she couldn't take anymore of her father.

She had so much promise and Hope could see a warrior in her, but she still had her doubts about ruining what little innocence the young girl had left.

Suddenly all thoughts were washed from her head when she heard a boom in the distance. Only it didn't come from any direction she turned to look in, it came from above.

     Like she did.

She looked up to see what looked like a shooting star in broad daylight. Hope's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she watched the falling star plummet to Earth. Only as it got closer, she could see that it wasn't a star at all.

     No way. It can't be.

Hope hurriedly stuffed lots of berries into her bag and practically trip over herself to rush to where the 'star' looked like it would be landing.

As she dashed through the forest, her heart beat faster than it ever has before. Could it be possible? Were they finally coming down? After knowing she was down here for years? Her running came to a halt as she could faintly see the ship falling through the trees. Not close enough to be hurt by the landing, she hid behind a tree as she watched the large contraption finally hit the ground with a loud thud.

After a few moments of silence, Hope looked out from behind the tree and saw the ship in all its glory. It looked old and worn, with the deployed parachutes laying across the top. A dropship. She heard a sudden hissing sound and she held her breath, knowing she was about to get the first glimpse of her people she's had in about 4 years.

The door finally hit the ground and there they were. Her people. Only they looked a lot younger than she thought they would. A young girl with long brunette hair was the first to step out, a crowd of people behind her, seemingly waiting for her.

Taking small steps down the ramp, she appeared to be basking in all the glory of Earth just as Hope did when she first got here. Just wait, she thought.

The girl took a leap off of the ramp onto the forest floor and took a deep breath. Hope was the most relaxed she's ever been in quite a while as she watched the girl, a little younger than herself admire the new planet before her. Deep inside, she knew what was in store for her people, possible war, but she couldn't care less right now.

"WE'RE BACK BITCHES" the girl suddenly yelled out with her fists pumped into the air. Everyone else took that as their cue and immediately started whooping and yelling, clearly excited to be on Earth.

Only then did Hope get back on the defensive. They were loud. Really loud.

Luckily, if she knew her tree-men, and she did, an attack upfront wouldn't be something she had to worry about. But she knew she had to tell Ash of her people's arrival.
