Chapter Two

Lena looked at her daughter as she started to break down again. Callie started to break down again so she pulled her into her arms. "I'm so sorry, baby girl. We love you kids so much and sometimes we make mistakes. I'm sure Mom will talk to you soon about it." Lena pulled back to look at Callie's face and Callie just nodded and Lena pulled her back into a hug.

What the mother/daughter duo didn't know was they had an audience of one who stood with their mouth open.

Callie pulled out of the hug this time and wiped away the tears from her cheeks.

"How about we go inside and I make us some French toast for breakfast?" Lena asked, standing up and holding out a hand for Callie to grab.

Callie just nods her head and gets on her feet after grabbing Lena's hand.

When the two women turn to go inside they see Mariana standing there, a look of shock on her face. Callie turns to Lena, not knowing what to say.

"Miss thing. What are you doing up so early?"

"I couldn't sleep, didn't see Callie in her bed. I figured she was down here too. Thought we could watch a movie. What the hell happened last night, Callie? Where were you?" Mariana rambled.

"I-um. It's a long story, Mari." Callie said.

"Did Mom really say all that stuff to you?" Mariana asked, eyes watery.

"I-" Callie was trying to figure out what to tell her sister. "It's complicated Mariana."

"Well uncomplicate it." Mariana fires back.

"Mariana, I need you to calm down. Right now." Lena told her.

"Look, I'm sorry, but I can't just stand by and pretend like I didn't hear what I heard." Mariana looked between them. "Did she really say "One of these days you're not going to be so lucky and I'm not gonna be able to take you home because they're gonna be taking your body to the morgue"?"

Callie nodded her head and looked down. "Yes. Last night I made a huge mistake and after mom told me that Troy Johnson confessed."

"So what does that mean? Are you still going to trial?" Marina asked as they all went to sit down in the breakfast nook.

"I don't know. Mom doesn't know either." Callie sighs and rests her head in her hands. "I just know I made a huge mistake last night. I know I was stupid and I shouldn't have done what I did but I just hope I'm able to undo it."

"Mama. are you still thinking about making french toast?" Mariana asked, trying to subtly get Lena to leave so she can talk to Callie.

"I get it. I know when you want to just talk to each other. I'll be in the kitchen." Lena told them, laughing at her daughters.

Mariana waits for Lena to move to the other side of the room before asking Callie any more questions. "Callie, what is it that you did? I can't believe that Mom would say that to you."

Callie looked down at her hands for a moment before meeting Mariana's gaze."I got in a van with a known pimp trying to save a girl from Girls United." Callie saw Mariana's gaping mouth "I know. I know. I was an idiot. I shouldn't have done it. I caused so much trouble last night when I should've just been fighting for Anchor Beach. I don't need a lecture because all I've been doing since I got in that van last night is berate myself." Callie told Mariana, tearing up.

"Cal," Mariana started, grabbing one of her sister's hands. "Last night got out of hand at the school too. Just not pimp-level danger." Mariana tried to joke. "But seriously, last night didn't go well for us either."

"She didn't hug me," Callie told her, voice cracking. "She hugged everyone last night but didn't hug me." A couple of tears fell down Callie's cheeks. "I just needed a fucking hug, Mari. why didn't she hug me?" and the dam broke once again and Callie broke down, this time being pulled into Mariana's arms.

Mariana held onto her sister and tried to whisper sweet nothings, trying to calm her down when Lena came over to Callie's other side. Lena rubbed her hand up and down Callie's back, her heart breaking for her oldest daughter. When they finally got Callie to calm down they a set of footsteps coming into the kitchen. When Mariana and Lena saw it was Stef they let go of Callie and when Callie opens her eyes and sees Stef she tenses up.

"I think we need to talk, Cal."

I guess this is kinda a filler chapter. I just wanted to give you Fosters readers another chapter to read. :)
