The Doctor and Rose walked hand in hand through the streets of Powell Estate, on their way to the TARDIS. A twisted expression adorned the Doctor's face.
"It's been an hour, Doctor," Rose said, giggling. "You can't still have the taste in your mouth.""I'm telling you, those things are evil. How did Jackie even come up with the gruesome idea of baking a cake with pears? I mean, pears in a cake? Only Jackie could come up with something like that. I'll never get rid of this taste. I need to regenerate. Yes, that's the only solution, Rose."
"Come on, Doctor. You're exaggerating," Rose said, gasping for breath from laughter.
"I'm telling you, your mother wanted to kill me."
"With a pear cake?" Rose burst into laughter. "Yeah, it almost seems like it worked," she managed to say with her last breath.
The Doctor sniffed and abruptly stopped just short of the TARDIS. Rose looked at him questioningly. "You know what? I need something that tastes good." Rose looked at him with a grin, knowing exactly what he meant. "Chips!" she said, sticking her tongue out slightly.
"Chips," the Doctor said, smiling. "Come on."
And he pulled Rose along with him.
Both of them ran to the nearest French fries stand. With the Chips in their hands, they sat down on a bench at the edge of a park. The park was full of people either enjoying their time there or on their way somewhere. They watched the people for a while as they savored their fries. "Is it better?" Rose broke the silence.
"What?" the Doctor asked, looking at Rose questioningly as he stuffed a chip into his mouth.
"That means yes," Rose replied, grinning, and also took another chip.
"Oh, Rose, you'd have to kiss me to neutralize that devilish taste," the Doctor said with an amused chuckle as he watched the people walking in the park. Not a second later, his expression changed from an amused smile to a shocked face. What did he just said? He thought to himself. He could almost feel Rose's shocked gaze on his skin. After a brief clearing of his throat, the Doctor spoke again. "Um, s-sorry. That, uh, that wasn't okay," he said and looked into Rose's wide-open eyes. She blushed and quickly averted her gaze.
"S okay," she replied with a forced smile. She knew it was just a joke from him, so she tried to go along with it.
"In fact, the next time you eat a pear or something like a pear cake, it will be the first thing I do. Then I won't have to listen to your whining for an hour," Rose said confidently, trying to avoid the Doctor's gaze. What was he thinking anyway? He was right, it wasn't okay to make jokes about it. But how was he supposed to know that it was what she wanted the most? Although, wasn't it obvious? On the other hand, maybe it was only obvious to her. Her mom was right about one thing: he's a stupid alien, at least when it comes to recognizing that she felt something for him.
Now it was the Doctor who looked at Rose incredulously. "Well, back to the TARDIS?" he said as he abruptly stood up.
On the way to the TARDIS, the Doctor's mind was going crazy. Did she mean it seriously? No, that was definitely a joke. Would she actually do it?
Even if she didn't feel anything for him, would she kiss him? He felt a shiver just at the thought of it.Back in the TARDIS, Rose took a hot shower. As the water warmed her body, she couldn't help but think about the conversation and how much she wanted to kiss the Doctor in that moment. After slipping into her pajamas and leaving the bathroom, she looked for the Doctor in the TARDIS to say goodnight.
Not finding him in his usual spot in the control room, she heard something coming from the kitchen. "Evil, just evil," she heard. Curious, she walked into the kitchen and saw the Doctor, fiddling with something. "Doctor?" she asked. The Doctor turned around abruptly, his body blocking whatever he was working on, a big grin on his face. "Rose!"
Rose looked at him questioningly. "Are you okay?" she asked, trying to catch a glimpse of what he was hiding behind his back, which he successfully prevented.
"Yes," the Doctor initially replied, but quickly corrected himself. "Well, you know what, actually not." Rose continued to look at him with a puzzled expression as he brought something out from behind his back. His hand was covered with a white medical glove, and between two fingertips, he held a piece of something. Wait, was that a piece of pear, Rose thought.
An expression of disgust crossed the Doctor's face as he glanced at it, followed by a brief gag. "What the hell?" Rose asked, her gaze shifting between the Doctor and the object in his hand. And what she saw next shocked her. The Doctor held his nose with his other hand, took a deep breath, and with a slight hesitation and a disgusted expression, he shoved the piece of pear into his mouth. "What are you doing?" Rose shouted as she walked towards him.
With an unbelieving look, she watched him quickly chew and swallow the piece of pear. His expression was that of a dying animal. "Bleh," he uttered, shaking his entire body and trying to recover. Rose stood there, mouth agape. "What was that for?" she asked. The Doctor took a moment to respond. He really looked like he was about to die. "If that's the only way to get a kiss from you, then..."
"What?" Rose looked at him in shock. The Doctor looked completely tormented.
"I just wanted to see if you'd keep your word," the Doctor said.
Oh, he was really making jokes about it again. But why on earth did he eat a pear for that?
Rose felt anger slowly rising within her. She hesitated for a moment, then gathered all her courage. I'll show you, she thought as she walked towards him. With both hands, she grabbed his jacket, giving him a vengeful look. He stared back at her with wide eyes, deeply into her own. With a sudden movement, she pressed her lips against his.
The Doctor's body went completely stiff, and his two hearts started pounding like mad. Rose barely registered what was happening. Slowly, the Doctor opened his mouth and let Rose in. With her tongue, she discovered the inner of his mouth. Her heart also began to race, and as she heard the Doctor's slight moan, who by now had his hand on her hip, it shot through her mind again. It was just a game for him. A joke. In that moment, she pulled back, and both of them stared at each other with open mouths and wide eyes. Rose felt the anger rushing through her body once again. With a jerk, her palm smacked the Doctor's cheek. The Doctor began to rub the pain on his cheek as he looked at her in shock. "Oi," he uttered. "Don't play with me, Doctor. You won't win this game," Rose said, pointing her finger at him warningly.
Just as she turned to walk out of the room, she felt the Doctor's hand on her wrist, pulling her back so that her nose almost touched his. When he saw Rose's glazed eyes, the Doctor's stomach turned. "Why? Oh, I'm so sorry, Rose. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have led you on. It was wrong." he said with a shame-filled gaze. "For you, it's all just a bloody game, Doctor!",rose shouted as she took a step back. Tears streamed down her cheek. "Ever thought that I would have kissed you even without that bloody pear?" Rose looked at him with anger. "Wait, it wasn't the kiss?" the Doctor asked, confused. "Forget it," Rose said now in a calm voice.
What have I done, she thought to herself as she turned around again to leave the kitchen. In that moment, she felt a hand on her wrist again, pulling her back. The Doctor, very close to her face. "Rose," he said as he looked deep into her red eyes. A shiver ran through Rose's body as the Doctor's hand brushed her cheek. "Rose it was never just a game" he said as he looked deep into her eyes. Slowly, he moved closer to her face, and as his lips touched hers, this time gently, all the anger vanished from her body. This time, she opened her mouth for him. She placed one hand on his neck and the other played with his hair, while he let his rest on her cheek, the other, well, still clad in an infected glove. The kiss grew more intense until Rose had to catch her breath. She looked at him desperately. "What do you mean, Doctor?" The Doctor smiled slightly. "You're the only reason I would ever eat a pear, Rose. Doesn't that say enough?" Rose began to giggle, and at the same time, a tear ran down her cheek. "Do you mean it?" "Shall I prove it to you?" the Doctor said, pointing to the sliced pear. Rose didn't hesitate for long and pulled the Doctor back into a kiss that was so passionate that it seemed like answer enough.
Hope you enjoyed it. ❤️
