Quick; fast—without stopping.

If you think about it,

The heart is a machine.

A machine that runs on

For eighty years long;

A beat

That never stops;

A song

That's never wrong.

And then,

When it finally stops—

It stops for two things;

Death—

And Love.

Brave Love Chapter 19: Nineteen to the Dozen

[Xander]

"Well looks like someone's got a low alcohol tolerance," Rose sighed, laughing softly as she watched Chip cling to me like a baby koala. "We didn't really have alcohol in the house last time—and Chip doesn't drink very often...so."

Detaching the little sleepyhead from my body, I picked him up bridal style—carrying him to his bedroom and placing him gently on the bed.

Rose followed silently, going over to the drawers to pull out a face towel.

"Thank you—that was very much appreciated. Um...you have a good night then, Xander," My angel's sister ran the towel under warm water in the basin of the master bedroom's bathroom, smiling to indicate her gratitude.

I nodded in understanding, pulling away from Chip's arms in a reluctant manner.

A soft whine slipped past his lips as he quickly reached for my shirt once again.

"Chip—you have to sleep," I sighed, tearing my gaze from his beautiful frame, "Be a good boy and lie down."

"Mmn...warm," Was the only reply I got as my angel clung to my torso with a sheepish smile on his face. Rose, upon leaving the bathroom, noticed our small interaction—raising an eyebrow with a wet towel in her hands.

"You're not thinking of staying here, are you?"

I cleared my throat guiltily.

Well I was, but since sister-in-law is here—I guess I can't be naughty can I?

"Nope. Not at all."

"Good," Rose nodded approvingly, wiping Chip's arms with the towel as I laid him down again. "Well just so you know, even though I might not be over-the-roof raging at your very existence—I'm not going to let you engage in any...activity with my brother any time soon, you hear me?"

Uh, sorry Rose. I think I did that already but—

Yeah not gonna be saying that out loud.
