The time when something important—is about to begin.

The time has come.

From the start;

There was no part

That longed to end

What tried to mend—

A sad fools' heart.

Brave Love Chapter 26: Zero Hour

When there was nothing left but darkness in the palm of a cold Christmas night, the boy saw an angel.

When there was nothing left;

When there was nothing to begin with;

The boy had nothing to lose.

The boy was nothing.

For no one talked to him; smiled at him; or gave him anything on this Christmas night.

In fact, Santa never came.

For there was no Santa—

But only the gift of sadness; sorrow; and loneliness.

And just when everything was taken away and nothing given;

And all that he could see was darkness in his road ahead,

Closed doors that would never open;

Not caring whether he was alive or dead—

Someone smiles—a smile made out of sunshine that warmed the very tips of his fingers that were frozen from the cold.

It was never the piece of bread that saved;

It was never the wish he gave.

And as a gentle hush cloaked the land, the boy wondered that night—

Maybe. Just maybe.

Angels do exist after all.

The boy from the bakery would never know the weight of his actions. He'd never think that in this big, scary world—someone was saved.

For he was a small, harmless thing; and small harmless things were often overlooked. As so were humans.

The tiny boy knew not what a savior was. He knew not of angels; of devils; of good; of evil—for the only thing that he knew was how to make someone happy.

But that itself was more than enough. If only it was as simple as a piece of bread; a touch of warmth; a wish of happiness; or a smile of innocence.
