********************************minutes later, they took to the skies, and she heard the young people talking excitedly about the next step, as they were about to test a secret government device for the first time. She turned to Paul, and asked gazing at Bridget, "Tell me, Paul, what is Bridget's role in this operation?"
Paul looked at her in genuine astonishment and replied, "What kind of question is that? She is the trainer. Did you hit your head somewhere? Wasn't she completely responsible for our previous training sessions?"
Dana nervously replied, "Oh, of course, I know... But the fact that she's a woman is what surprises me."
Paul laughed at her words and said, "You're really strange. Wasn't it this very woman who knocked you down with a combat strike during our initial training? And didn't you mention back then that you pitied the man who would marry her?"
Did Simon say that? What a fool! Bridget is not only beautiful but also strong, which makes her exceptional... He must be accustomed to delicate types of women like a fragile blossom.
She glanced at Paul and added, "And I still can't help but feel sorry for him."
Paul cautiously warned her while looking at the commander, "Don't worry about her and be careful around the commander.I noticed him staring at you intently a while ago."
Her heart raced with unease. Did he suspect something? She looked at him and saw him engaged in conversation with Bridget. Then something strange happened that made her heart skip a beat once again. That stern face actually smiled. He knew how to smile, but could a smile truly metamorphose a person's appearance by a hundred and eighty degrees? Suddenly, she no longer saw him as a repugnant figure . He was undeniably alluring, even exceedingly so when he was being himself and not harsh and strict. But why was he smiling at that woman ,whereas at the shopping mall, he treated her with contempt and displayed utter disdain? A surge of indignation washed over her, prompting her to ask Paul with genuine interest, ""Do you think, Paul, that there's something between the commander and Bridget?"
Paul turned to observe them and replied,, "How would I know? Do you believe the commander will share his private life with us?"
She inquired with fervent curiosity, a genuine desire to unravel the nature of their relationship,"It must be more than mere colleagues... Did you not notice that he was waiting for her outside my house so they could arrive together? A man wouldn't go to such lengths for a mere acquaintance in his life."
Paul looked at them again and said, "Maybe you're right, but why do you care? It doesn't concern us." The words were easy, but Dana was extremely angry with him because he treated her harshly while treating another person kindly in her presence, which greatly bothered her.
She continued to gaze at him with fury, but unfortunately, against her own will, the anger began to fade. The man had a wonderful and captivating smile, and she found herself starting to see him as an attractive man who caught her attention, which is something she rarely experienced. She was usually not interested in any man, and those who used to interest her quickly became demanding and believed they had the right to touch her, which made her repulsed by them immediately.
This matter was very personal, and only one person had potential to earn such a privilege. However that person had yet to appear in her life. Despite the stories and tales she had heard from her friends about the first kiss and its devastating impact on one's emotions, she had never been interested in being kissed by a man because she had simply never felt a genuine desire with any of the men she had encountered in her life.
The chemical reactions of emotions, as described in stories and novels, seemed far removed from her reality. She smirked cynically and returned her focus to observing the enigmatic commnader with heightened interest, and at that moment, he turned around and caught her staring at him. If someone had electrocuted her, it would have been easier to bear than what she felt now. She wanted to avert her gaze, to look away. Surely, that's what she wanted. But his gaze seemed to pierce through her entirely, causing her heart to race so rapidly that she could hear nothing else. An icy current surged through her body, freezing her limbs in an instant.
