Lisa charges into the lined trees.

"Lisa! Wait." Jennie catches up.

"I'm sorry, I didn't want you to break his arm." Lisa stopped walking and Jennie almost bumped her head to the latter.

"I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at myself."

"I had no idea GD would pull something like that. He has seriously gone off the deep end."

"The guy's in love with you, and he wants you back."

Jennie felt guilty as she looked at Lisa's wrecked face, holding her side from the kick she took earlier and how tired she is from running just to save her.

"That's not love." Their eyes meet in the moonlight. "Will you walk me home?"

Lisa simply stared at her.

It's a picture-book perfect neighborhood. Most of the houses are festively decorated with front-yard graveyards and cobweb-festooned trees. Lisa walks with Jennie. They come to the prettiest house on the block.

"Thank you... for saving me."

Lisa stares at the dozen jack-o-lanterns arranged on the porch. They glare back with flickering buck tooth grins.

Jennie noticed where Lisa's eyes landed. "I know. Wait until the Christmas decorations go up." She motions to the cut above Lisa's eye, concerned.

"You should see a doctor."

Lisa gave her a light smile. "Don't mind it. Wouldn't waste their time." Jennie looks at her, curiously.

"You're not going to tell me how you took out those football players, are you?" Lisa says nothing. Jennie then considers it and smiles.

"Why do I keep feeling safe around you?"

"Because you deserve to be with someone that keeps you safe all the time." Lisa said.

"Do you really see me as a friend, Lisa?" Jennie gazed up at her. Lisa remained silent.

Lisa steps forward and kisses her. Although taken by surprise, Jennie quickly succumbs to her passion. They get separated but their eyes momentarily flicker open, Lisa sees the orbs grinning back from Jennie's eyes.

"I better go."

Jennie purses her lips, smiling. She watches Lisa cross the street, the latter turns and she waves back at Lisa.

Jennie and Lisa's childhood was full of unexpected events after that night, the two of them started dating.

Lisa wanted to prevent Jennie from being with someone not worthy of her love and eventually crying over her shoulder because of heartache. That's what she thought was a perfect excuse for her anger and frustrations.

But Lisa never felt at ease with her thoughts as time passed by, it grew and gave her anxiety everyday. It's not that she wasn't unsure of how she felt. She just lacks the courage to say that she liked the girl. It sums up all those traits Lisa loved with the small girl because she's funny, smart, can be a friend when you need one, a lover at night -- probably and a really good companion for a lifetime.

Lisa knew at that moment, Jennie was her forever.

One night after their graduation and before entering Harvard. Lisa planned to ask for Jennie's hand in marriage. She couldn't wait until they finished college. The blonde knew it was the perfect time.
