Thirteen years ago...
"Please take a seat."
Jennie was being called by one of her professors in Law school. It was a fine morning, almost the end of the school year.
"I wanted to personally talk to you, Jennie. This is about our internship program here at Harvard." Mr. Huxley said.
Jennie remained quiet and her professor was kind of gauging her expression at the moment.
Jennie was one of the brilliant minds at Harvard Law School, she became a top student instantaneously for consecutive years after entering the campus. Her professors were very impressed by her intelligence and strategic skill set, that's why this morning Jennie was being summoned to offer her an immediate position in school before she graduated.
"So? Are... you... interested?"
Jennie contemplated for a while, she's not herself right now. Her mind is wandering off to something else that doesn't involve being part of Law School.
"Uhm... Can I think about it?" Jennie gave him a light smile.
Mr. Huxley pressed his lips tight, "Alright, but just so you know, the program will be a two year internship program but I must warn you, you cannot leave Massachusetts not unless you finish it. Would it be alright with you?" Mr. Huxley was hopeful that he delivered the repercussions to Jennie in a nice way.
Jennie lightly nods, "I'll think about it." she replied.
Although she must admit that agreeing to this kind of offer is somehow difficult, thinking that she wouldn't be able to travel outside the United States for two long years.
The doors opened from Mr. Huxley's office. Jennie turned around and gave the man her goodbye.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Huxley."
"No. Thank you Jennie, we'll be waiting for you. Everyone will be delighted to have you on our team. And I forgot to mention, we have decided to absorb you as an Associate Paralegal to Harvard's Law Firm after the Internship, if you agree.." Mr. Huxley was excited.
Jennie plastered a smile before she left.

Jennie walked towards the coffee shop, her mind afloat with thoughts and emotions. She had just spoken to her professor about the position that had been offered to her at Harvard, and although she knew it was a great opportunity, her heart was heavy with sadness.
She knew that Lisa was leaving for London soon, and the thought of being apart from her for so long was overwhelming. Jennie loved Lisa with all her heart, and she couldn't imagine her life without her.
But at the same time, she knew that she couldn't let her emotions cloud her judgment. The position at Harvard was a huge opportunity, one that could change her life and her future. She didn't want to let it slip away, but at the same time, she didn't want to lose Lisa.
Jennie took a deep breath as she entered the coffee shop, her eyes scanning the room for Lisa. She spotted her sitting at their usual table, her head bent over a book.
Jennie stepped out from the old building taking the stairs down and heading towards her favorite coffee shop where her lover was indeed waiting for her.
When Jennie arrived at the serene place, she immediately noticed her. Lisa sat in the sunlight, too consumed by her phone. She'd chosen their usual spot at the coffee shop, and outdoor table in view of the crowded pedestrian street.
