Heaven and Back.
II. Leon
Leon and Jade stayed quiet the entire ride, mostly because though the jet was small, the blond found a way to keep to himself. All Jade did was sleep, and to that Leon had been left wondering how the hell she was one of America's best. Might've been tired from previous missions, but still, at least be more aware.
Almost half a day on the flight, and half a day his partner was knocked out. At least he's got his best friend, a warm shot of whiskey. Did he like drinking? not really. Was it for the sake of passing time? definitely. For some absurd reason, there were a few packs of cigarettes in the front pocket of his seat, and he noticed it on every seat as well. Who decided this was a good idea? This is an aeronautical vehicle, for Christ's sake. Leon shook his head. Finally, Jade had awoken with drool streaming down her chin. Gross. The blond cringed.
"Got a good rest in there, Ryuk?" Leon asked, eyeing the female as she rubbed her eyes. It took a while for her to come to her senses, but when she did, she spoke in a groggy, raspy voice. "Yes. Yes I did, Kennedy. Are we there yet?" Leon looked out the window. "I don't know, why don't you try drooling on the clouds in hopes they'll clear up so I can take a proper look?" The blond somehow felt the sense that Jade had rolled her eyes.
It was quiet for another long while, until the aircraft started slowing down and landing. Leon checked his hand guns and knives, making sure they were good to go. He had peeked on Jade on the other seat as well, and saw her playing with a small swiss-army knife. It was hot, Leon thought, and as the federal agent he was, he looked away before Jade had noticed. Some might call it.. the Scott Sight. (real family skill.)
Soon, they were headed to the nearest police station to be escorted to the suspected area in Spain. Getting in the car along with two other officers, Leon relaxed himself on the seat as the drooler went in the opposite car door and sat beside him. As the car started, Leon couldn't help but take a quick glance at Jade. "..Did I actually sleep for 8 hours?" The blond had to look away before Jade spoke, then look back so his partner wouldn't notice him looking. He cleared his throat before he spoke, a stiff and melancholy expression on his face-as always. "Yeah." He heard Jade click her tongue, her head shaking in his peripheral view as he leaned against his elbow, staring out the car window.
The ride was quiet, until one of the officers started small talk after a few minutes on the road. "So, tell me, yanquis. Why did you come to this horrible place-as close to nowhere as I've ever seen?" The officer on the passenger seat had asked, leaning against the car seat, his mustache somehow building up sweat. Leon shrugged it off.
"Let's just say-looking for someone."
"Heard they got good, stomach-churning burritos-um, looking for someone."Leon perked his head to look his partner with a confused expression, Jade avoiding eye contact and maintaining her gaze on the stain on the passenger seat's back cover. Fortunately, the officers didn't seem to hear. Leon was definitely questioning how she was one of America's best agents.
"That someone must be very important, eh? The chief gave me order himself, "Help them," the officer chuckled lightly, occasionally looking at them throw the rearview mirror. "Well, I'm sure you boys didn't come all the way here to roast marshmallows.. or maybe you did." Jade snorted at this, Leon having the same resting bitch-face. The officer laughed, "You have a strange sense of humor."
"It's not just his humor," Jade muttered, earning a nasty look from the blond as she pretended to clear her throat. The blond only shook his head, leaning back on his elbow as he looked out the window. "I'm gonna let you in on a little secret, just between us. A lot of people have gone missing here, and it's been that way for a while now."
"Well then, should be just another day in the office, right?" Leon spoke. The officer shook his head, "I mean, last week there was a search for some missing hikers.." Jade cleared her throat once again, to lighten up the tension, Leon assumed. "I'm sure you'll help us the most you can. And maybe get me one of those infamous burritos." The officer chuckled.
After a while, the car starts to slow down. "I think this is it." The officer on the passenger seat spoke. "Nature calls, eh? I'll be right back." He continued before opening the car door and stepping out. Once he was at a good distance, Jade leaned in a bit and whispers. "You think he's had a stomach-churning burrito? I heard you get explosive diarrhea for days." Leon scrunched his nose, imagining the idea before shooing Jade back. "I'm sure he just needed to take a piss." He'd say. "I dunno man, the look on his face seemed like he was keeping in a good shit." The remaining officer laughed, much to Leon's dismay. My sense of humor was strange, they said. He rolled his eyes. The officer in the driver's seat pulled out a pack of cigarettes and placed one in his mouth before offering it to the agents.
"Either of you smoke?" Leon waved him off, whilst Jade laughed. "You've never had a smoke? not once?" She'd nudge him in the shoulder. Leon ignored her anyway. It was like that, an awkward silence for a few minutes before the officer spoke. "He sure is taking his time. Did he fall in?" Leon thought that as well, until he imagined the vile sight and shook his head, an irk on his forehead.
"We should go check up on him, he might've fallen asleep in his own dump." Jade suggested as she opened the car door. Disgusting. Leon furrowed his brows, resisting the urge to knock his partner unconcious as he followed. "We'll be back." The officer waved them off as he puffed out the smoke. "I'll watch the car-wouldn't wanna get a parking ticket."
"So much for helping us." Leon muttered under his breath, to which Jade snickered. Leon walked further into the woods, leading the way with his partner.
