Harlems POV

June 30th
The day my father leaves to go on his two week honeymoon. My father is gone all the time anyways but Killian's mom Rose has kept him home for as long as possible and now he'll be gone again then he'll come back and it will be back to the usual.

I'm laying in bed procrastinating getting up before feeling a punch to my stomach.
"Hey loser we have to go to the airport." Killian said before leaving.

I changed into comfortable clothes and put on tennis shoes then grabbed my headphones since it was an hour drive.

"Harlem, Killian, lets go." My dad yelled out.
Both of us ran downstairs and out the door to get into the truck.

During the drive there I listened to one of my books on audiobook. It's called We Are the Ants. Its pretty good I suppose. I haven't gotten completely into it yet.

We finally got to the airport and we all went inside and they went through security and all that.
"Killian remember it's not just you at the house. You two need to look out for each other. I'll put money on your card on Saturdays for groceries. You can have a few friends over but no parties."
"Mom I know. You've told me a thousand times, the kid will be fine" He reassured her. I don't intend on staying at the house for the most part.

I'll probably be hanging out with Rocco. I haven't known him for very long but he's pretty cool to hangout with. I met him online a couple of weeks ago and he invited me to go out for ice cream so we've only really hung out once but we text a lot.

"Harlem I'll put some money on your card too for whatever you need." My dad told me.
"Okay dad" I replied.
Their flight was called so we all had our last hugs and goodbyes then Killian and I walked out of the airport.

"I'm going to drop you off at the house then go out." Killian told me
"What about dinner?" I asked him.
"You're 13. You cant cook for yourself?" He asked.
"No one ever taught me" I explained.
"I'll pick McDonald's up. What do you want?"
"A chicken nugget happy meal." I answered.
"Aren't you a little old for a happy meal?" He asked
"I don't care. I just want the toy." I told him.

We went through the drive through and he got a big mac and fries and he gave me my kids meal. I looked in and my toy was a Lumalee figure! I love Supermario, so this was amazing. I think I just love collecting things tbh.

"Have you seen the movie?" Killian said glancing at me.
"No not yet, but I would like to." I said. I was kind of confused on why he was having a conversation with me but it was nice to just talk to him since he usually is with his friends or something.
"My friends are going to go in a couple of days if you want to tag along" Killian offered.
"No that's okay. I don't want to be in the way of your guy's fun" I declined.
"Don't worry about that Harlem. My friends just wanted to get to know you a little better." He admitted.
"Oh." Is all I said.
"What is that supposed to mean" He asked confused.
"Nothing." I replied.
"Come on Harley. You're very easy to read." Killian told me.
"Nothing is wrong. Leave me alone." I said looking away from him and instead looking out the window.
"Fine. Just know I will find out sooner or later." He spoke.
"Nuh uh." I replied.
"Aha! So, you admit it. Something is wrong." He spoke.
"Hey that's not fair. You tricked me." I said angrily.
"Get used to it. Now just tell me why you're upset with me." He said.
"You didn't offer to take me to the movies because you wanted to take me. It was your friends that wanted to get to know me."  I admitted me.
"Yeah, my friends wanted to get to know you because they don't know you. I literally share a room with you. I know you pretty well already." He told me.
"You know nothing about me." I said still not looking at him with my arms crossed.
"Is that so?" He asked
"Yep." I subtly replied.
"I know that even though you're thirteen, you pout like a first grader still." He said.
"Shut up. I don't pout." I said.
"Really? Because the way you look right now with your arms crossed refusing to look at me is not much different than how the kids at the elementary school look when they don't get what you want." He said laughing.
Killian has two free periods so he can go help teachers from the middle or elementary school since they're all right next to each other.
"You don't like talking to new people. You love to do puzzles and build Lego sets. You like reading but you hate doing math or science because it takes you a long time to understand it. You stim by rocking back and forth even if you're in public. Your favorite movie that was a book first is Wonder. Need I go on." He said listing a bunch of stuff about that was unfortunately true.
"I didn't realize you paid that much attention to me." I admitted.
"Well, it's kind of hard for you to put on your mysterious act when we once again literally share a room."  He said pulling into the driveway.

We got our stuff and went inside and he sat our stuff inside and Killian then went to sit on the living room couch and got on his phone.
"Hey our cousins are coming over tonight and spending the night. I don't think you've met them." Killian said.
"Oh okay." I said getting a little nervous. I enjoy knowing about these things a few days ahead of time. It gives me time to plan out how I am going to avoid them.
"We'll be outside having a bonfire. Just make sure you're in bed by 9:30." Killian said.
"I can stay up later than 9:30." I argued.
"Maybe. But I don't feel like dealing with a cranky little kid tomorrow." He said.
"I'm not a little kid." I said.
"You're four feet tall and you still sleep with your stuffed elephant." He said laughing
"Hey don't bring Brantley into this."
"You actually named it." Killian exclaimed cackling whilst cupping his nose with his ring finger and thumb whilst I turned red in embarrassment.

"How many people are coming over here?" I asked him attempting to change the subject.
"Three. Maddox, Skylar, and Harrison.  Harrison and Skylar are twins and they're both 18 while Maddox is 16."
"Okay cool." I replied trying to prepare myself for later. This should be fun!
