Killian's POV
It's been two days since the whole ordeal with Harlem and he is still very upset about it. I've already explained everything to him, all I can do now is give him space. Every single day he just mopes around, possibly eats, and then supposedly sleeps. He must think I am stupid or something because when you live with someone, especially in the same room, you tend to notice if they are taking care of themselves or not.
"Killian" I heard Harlem say from across the room.
"Hmm." I replied.
"Where did you hide it?
"Harlem, what the hell are you talking about?" I was confused.
"Come on. I know you took it." He accused me.
"Clearly I didn't because I don't know what you're talking about." I said in a duh tone. That statement upset him even further and he started frantically searching the room making a mess.
"Harlem stop. Tell me what you're missing." I stated
"I can't tell you." He said
"And why not?" I was confused.
"Because if you don't know what I am talking about then you will just get me in trouble one you do know." He said.Suddenly I did remember something that gave me an idea of what he was talking about.
"Are you talking about this?" I asked getting his vape out of a hidden place in my drawer
I had found it this morning but I didn't know if it was one of my friends or his and I didn't want to accuse him until I knew. And well, now I know."Where did you find that?" He asked, trying to take it from my hand before I rose it above his hand.
"It doesn't matter. You don't need to be having this. It is clear you are already addicted so you're just going to make things worse the more you do it." I explained to him.
"Who the fuck cares, just give me it back. It's one of the few things that calms my anxiety down." He told me stressing out.
"I care. You're trying to go down a path you know nothing about. Who even gave you this, Rocco?" I asked.
"It wasn't Rocco." He said but looking away from me.
"I can tell when you are lying to me. Tell me what else that fucker has given you." I demanded.
"Leave him alone." Harlem defended.
"What/ Do you think you're special to him. Well here's a little reality check Harlem. The things he is doing with you and the things he tells you is all just a scheme. He's done it with a bunch of other boys too. He takes advantage of kids your age because no one his own age will put up with his bullshit anymore." I explained to Harlem harshlyI slightly regretted my choice of tone once I analyzed Harlem. He held a betrayed expression with tears in his eyes before running out of the room to who knows where.
I decided to let him go to comprehend what I said. I'll have a talk with him later.
In the meantime I got out my phone and decided to call Rocco myself.
"Why are you calling me Killian?" Rocco picked up
"I found his vape. You have 5 seconds to tell me what else you gave Harley before I beat your ass again." I growled.
"Jeez, will you calm down? He said he wanted to be able to calm down so I gave his vapes and some of my moms sleeping pills." Rocco explained.
Sleeping pills? I was furious now.
"Ok. And if I find out you gave him something else and you neglected to tell me I will carry through with my threat plus I do something much worse." I told him.
"Yeah yeah bye." Rocco said hanging up,
I searched our entire room before finally found the bottle hidden in a chair pringles can.I went downstairs and Harlem was cuddled with his blanket on the couch still sniffling. I went to sit down next to him on the couch.
"Harlem I know it's hard to feel taken advantage of. I wish I could have prevented this from happening." I explained which only made him cry harder.
"Why did you want to date him anyways?" I asked.
"Dating?" Harlem asked.
"Cut the act. I know you're gay and I know that you had a crush on Rocco. But why didn't you try your own age first?"
"No one my age even wants to be my friend. Why would they ever want to date me?" He replied crying a bit more. Not going to lie, hearing that made my heart break for the kid. I knew he struggled socially but I kind of always just assumed he liked it being that way.
"Hey you're only in middle school. You still have plenty of time to make new friends. You're starting a new school this year so just try to get involved." I reassured him.
"I don't like sports." He replied.
"They have plenty of clubs you could join. They have the chess club, robotics, and all the other nerdy things you like." I said poking fun at him attempting to lighten the mood. He did laugh a bit at my so I think it worked"Rocco told me you have sleeping pills." I said after a moment of silence.
"Yeah. Why?" He asked.
"I'm taking them away too. It is extremely dangerous to take medicine not prescribed to you. It could even kill you Harlem." I explained.
"Oh." He said quietly looking down.
"I'm not mad at you. I know you didn't realize what you were doing. I'll have my mom talk to your dad so you can go to the doctors and get medicine to be able to sleep better." I told him"Okay" He said.
Harlem lays back down and he actually looks really tired which I think is ironic. "Hey, how about we watch a movie down here." I suggested.
"I'm grounded from my phone and tv for another week. Remember?" He asked. After the whole incident with Rocco the other night, I grounded him myself in agreement not to tell our parents.
"I know. I gave you the punishment idiot. But you have had a long couple of days so I don't think a movie would do any harm." I told him
"What movie?" He asked.
"What about the The Gobling King Scooby Doo movie?" I asked him knowing he is a huge fan of Scooby Doo.
"Huh Really?' He asked excitedly.
"Yeah I will get the DVD set up and everything. We can just sleep down here." I saidI put the DVD in and scooted the couch in to where both Harlem and I could lay down facing the tv and also put a bunch of comfy pillows and blankets up. Harlem got himself situated with his stuffie, Brantley. I think he calls him and we started the movie. I think I really like being an older brother
