Sit and be still

What does it mean, to be here all alone?
And are they alone; those who sit on high thrones?
Are they so bleak, those with power and fame?
Or do only the meek, seek to whine and complain?

Is it a facade, that success brings us joy,
Or is that what the rich, claim to keep up their ploy?
Are the distractions we see, of material wealth,
Really worth losing ones' touch with oneself?

For being alone, is not always so bad,
It is not an experience, that makes all men go mad.
To sit in a room, and listen to your thoughts,
Can be all that is needed, to heal shattered hearts.

As a man named Pascal, once famously said,
All of our problems, are tied to our lack of intent.
He claimed that humanity's problems are all grown,
From our inability to sit quiet, in a room all alone.

So I ask you this question, to ponder and reflect,
Are distractions in life, really good for our health?
Do the devices we have, save us all from our boredom?
Or do they destroy, our inner thoughts and decorum?

I challenge you this, for a challenge it is,
To sit by yourself, to focus and commit.
Commit to a time, in your life and your days,
Where you sit all alone, where you think or you pray.

For feeling alone, is not a feeling to shun,
Rather it is a chance, to cope with feelings of glum.
Listening to your mind, can be a scary encounter,
The things you most fear, may be waiting to devour.

But on the off-chance, they don't hunt down or kill you?
Maybe then you can learn, to adapt; grow resilience.
Your mind is a treasure, just waiting to be opened,
If you give it your time and your patience for a moment.

So to be all alone, to be broke or unwanted,
Or without your family or your friends, it is daunting.
But give it some time, be composed in this space,
And then you may find, that the truth shows it's face.

For being alone, is not inherent to pain,
And being alone can heal pain deeply engrained.
For the sake of your growth, your health and your bliss,
Sit and be still, be content, do not think.
