Micai Pov
It's been decided that Ty will keep the three of us over that weekend for the wedding. Demrest don't think she should have to be subject to Ty's babysitting. Uncle Andre reminds her what's happen last time. Apparently they threw a party. Sounds epic.
Today after school and practicing I get a surprise. Uncle Anthony pulls up to pick us up from school. I wonder where Antrez is. Nevertheless, we climb into his car. Tired. "How was practice?" We went on to tell him how it's hard and excruciating because finals are literally this weekend and we're driving to somewhere two hours away. We have to win. I want to go to regionals in Alabama.
When we get to our house, I waste no time going in. I'm in desperate need of a shower. I leave Lawrence behind and head to my room. I check my phone to see if dad texted me back. He probably won't. Ugh. Bum. To no surprise, there was no text. Where is he?
I finish my homework in my room. Teachers say if all your work is not completed you won't compete. I think that's just another way to keep us down! Uncle Anthony orders us food. I try to stay awake, but I fall asleep before Antrez ever gets home.
When I wake up and head out for school, my lunch box is packed and in the fridge. Antrez is still nowhere to be seen, but his car is outside. Lawrence and I walk to the bus stop in a comfortable silence. We sit down across from each other. He's not his normal talkative self this morning. I hope he's not sad. Deante and I talk all about how sore we are from practice. I wish I could have stayed home from school. It's like it's even worse in the morning.
When we got to school we went our separate ways. I didn't see much of Lawrence until recess. Lawrence, Deante, River, Nova, Tobias and I were standing around. Lawrence called us over to the farther side of the field. "Y'all wanna see something cool?" We all shrugged. Sure why not. Lawrence reached into his bag and pulled out a Glock 22. Nova and Deante jumped back. Tobias kept staring at it. Lawrence was smiling like it was show and tell. I remained calm.
"What is wrong with you Lawrence!" His smile immediately dropped. Did he think I should be proud of him? I noticed the gun was still loaded. He's an even bigger idiot. This is so dangerous! I shove the gun back into the bag and take out the clip. I make sure I take the bullet out the chamber. Thank you mom.
Now I think of what to do now. Nobody can find out he has this. I hope our friends can keep a secret. It's only 11 something. Dad has to come get it. "Where did you even get this from?!" Lawrence looked down. This is not the time to be ashamed! "Lawrence!"
He zips up his bag and throws it over his shoulder. "I stole it from Unce Anthony!" This guy is officially an idiot. He stole a police issued gun. I could punch him in his face.
"You dumb ass! Do you think he's not gonna notice? When he does that's your ass Lawrence! What was your plan!" He just looked at the ground and shrugged. That's not good enough for me. I pull out my phone and call my dad. "Hello Dad, I need you too..." My phone call was short lived. My phone was taken out of my hand. I turned around to see Mr.Morgan.
Mr.Morgan didn't look too happy. "Micai, you know you're not supposed to have your phone. You can get it from the office before you leave." He didn't even give me a chance to explain myself. He just walked off with my phone. Now what am I supposed to do!
Antrez Pov
Last night was a movie. Now I'm at work. My desk phone rang. "Hello?..." It was the front desk telling me I had a visitor. I told them to send them up. I wonder who it is. I probably should have asked. I waited for a moment. In walks none other than officer McAddams.
"What can I do for you Ant-man?" Anthony didn't look like his normal relaxed self. He had his hands on his hip pacing back and forth. He was nervous, but he was pissed. "What's up Ant?"
