“And why are you here?” Avery asked the man sitting on the sofa. Nasa loob siya ng opisina niya nang pumasok si Chester na ngayon ay abala na sa cellphone nito.

“Am I not allowed in here? I’m one of your shareholders, may I just remind you,” Chester said grumpily.

Napairap ang babae na may takip na maskara sa mukha. Hindi niya maintindihan ang utak ng lalaking kaharap. Mula pa noon ay palaging ang bar niya ang ginagamit nitong takbuhan kapag gusto nitong mapag-isa. It is not like someone will come after him anyway.

“You are disturbing me in my work. Bakit hindi ka na lang nagpa-reserve ng VIP room sa baba?” Napailing-iling ang babae bago niya inikot ang swivel chair niya.

She was facing her screen that is filled with what’s happening outside and inside her bar. She trust all her workers, yes, but she knows too that not everything can be handled by them. Kaya nilagyan niya ng maraming CCTV’s ang buong bar niya para maiwasan na rin ang kahit ano mang klase ng gulo.

Pero ngayon ay nasa loob pa ng opisina niya mismo ang gulo.

“Ever since the Alpha left, you already have become like this--”

“She isn’t the reason why I’m like this, Avery. I’m just exhausted, that’s all. May nakaharap akong babae kanina na kasing tigas ng ulo ng Alpha, iyon nga lang ay wala sa kaniya ang tapang nito. How dare she look at me like that and then cower in fear when I’m showing the real me?” Chester mocked while laying himself in the sofa.

Ginamit nitong unan ang sariling kamay at pagilid na humiga, paharap sa mesa ni Avery.

Natawa ang babaeng kausap niya dahil sa narinig.

“Why? You don’t want her to feel fear when having you near? That’s new.” Avery spin the swivel chair, facing him with an amused expression.

“I did not say that--”

“But it seems that you were implying that, Venyx. Who is this girl that you seemed anxious about her thoughts of you?” Inis na napabuga ng hangin ang lalaki.

“I said, I didn’t say any of that. Wala akong pake sa babaeng iyon. I just don’t like how proud she looks like, when all along, she is nothing but a weak girl. Her facade makes me sick!”

Avery shook her head. Then she turned to the screen once again. Naging tahimik na ang opisina niya dahil hindi na rin naman nagsalita si Chester.

Chester on the other hand was busy looking at the ceiling. He was aware of his attitude and awful personality. And not everyone really likes him for that. He doesn’t mind tho, but what he hates the most is when someone is looking down at him. Kapag ganoon ay gustong-gusto niyang ipakita ang kakayahan niya rito.

And Heart Rosenstein was nothing, but just a person who got to pissed him off because of the way she looks at him.

How dare she roll her eyes at me proudly? She can’t even stand my presence. How pathetic! He thought.

Ipinikit ni Chester ang mga mata niya. Hindi na niya namalayang nakaidlip siya habang nasa ganoong posisyon hanggang sa naramdaman niya ang paggalaw ng isang tao sa paligid niya. He opened his eyes and immediately saw Avery who was now on her phone.

Ngunit ang mata niya ay lumipad sa malaking screen na nasa kuwartong iyon. Chester’s eyes squinted when he saw someone familiar in there. Hindi puwedeng magkamali si Chester dahil suot-suot pa nito ang dress na pinapali nito sa kaibigan nitong katawagan kanina.
