I was just about to sleep when suddenly, I heard the window open and then close again. Still wearing my pajamas, I got up from bed, grabbed a flashlight, turned it on, and went to investigate what was going on.
"Hello? Anybody there?" I asked as I approached the window.
As I started to slowly open it again to see if anybody made noise, I started hearing magic dust being dropped onto the floor and then turning invisible. As I turned to see my room, I could've sworn I saw the magic dust. I shrugged, then proceeded to close my window. As I yawned and stretched my arms, I went back to bed and fell asleep again. As much as I wanted to sleep for the night, I couldn't. I kept hearing the magic dust from earlier and squinting my eyes, I saw a little ball of light. Squinting my eyes even harder, I looked at what appears to be a female figure with dragonfly wings and a little aqua blue dress. As the figure turned around to look at me, we both gasped. I started screaming and fell out of bed. The figure drew closer and closer, her wings kept flapping as fast as those of a hummingbird. I backed up a bit further and further away from the figure thinking she was going to eat me. After calming down and getting up, I asked the figure:
"Who in the name of God are you?!"
"Do not be frightened, Samson. I am but simply a fairy," responded the figure.
"Oh. Of course it had to be a fairy," I said sarcastically.
"You don't believe in fairies, Samson?" The fairy asked me with much curiosity as it drew just a bit closer.
"Okay. First of all, what are you doing in my house? Second of all, how the heck do you know my name?!"
"I understand that all of this is a lot to take in. Believe me, I should know."
"You're not answering my questions.""In that case, I came here to warn you about Jojo the Mean. He's up to something terrible-" I then interrupted the fairy.
"I'm sorry, eh... hehe... who?"
"Jojo the Mean. The meanest, most evil, most dangerous creature alive!"
I then burst into laughter, rolling on the floor as if I were doing the whole stop, drop and roll deal. The fairy looked at me with an unamused look on her face and sighed.
"Samson, please listen to me. This is very important."
"What's so important about a character from a book?"
"Excuse me? Jojo exists, because he's from another world."
"Yeah... I don't buy it."
"Would you believe me if I were telling you that he's kidnapped your brother?"
"Okay sister! Here's an idea: get off my back! What in the name of God do you mean that some mythical creature has kidnapped my little brother earlier?! He's sleeping like an angel. Here. I'll show you," I told the fairy as I showed her my little brother's bed.
As I uncovered the blankets, I looked in shock and horror to see that instead of my little brother, it was a ragdoll decoy of him. My heart started racing as I began to sweat. I looked around my room."Lucas? Hermanito?! Where are you?!" I was basically having a panic attack.
I ran downstairs to look for my brother, the fairy following me without me noticing. The fairy knew what she was talking about, mainly because she was nigh-omniscient. As I kept looking all over the house, except my parents' room, I proceeded to open the front door and run off into the streets of town.
"Lucas!!!" I screamed hoping to find my brother.
"Samson, please. Calm down. I can help you find your brother," the fairy said as she approached me from behind. I turned to look at her, shrieked and jumped.
"Don't scare me like that!"
