Hayden looks at me in silence. It's like he has no idea what to say right now.

No, this shit is messed up.

I hold my head in my hands. "Oh no, no, no..."

As I'm processing what I just heard, a guy comes up to me. He's about the same height as I am, which makes him look short amongst everyone else.

"Hi, you're Ivy Harrow Green right?" he says.

I make a face and the sound of my full name. He sounds like my mother when she's mad.

"Yeah, I don't think there can be any other Ivy here, can there?" Annoyed with the entire situation, I sigh. "Sorry, I didn't mean to snap. Yeah, I'm Ivy. Why?"

He looks at me and suddenly blurts out something I couldn't hear.

"What?"

He looks at me again. "What's your dorm number?"

Surprised, I stare at him. "Why do you wanna know?"

The guy suddenly realizes what the entire thing seemed like and shakes his head. "No, no, no, that's not what I meant. Don't misunderstand me!"

Hayden narrows his eyes at him. "Then what is it?"

He sighs and whispers this time. "It's just that, we were told our dorm room was going to have a new member today, and since you're the only one who's new to the school, I figured..."

I groan. "Oh. That." I lean on the mess table, the situation getting on my nerves. I mumble under my breath. "This is so annoying."

After a while, I look up at the short guy and whisper in a weird questioning voice. "112?"

He shrugs. "Same dorm."

Sigh.

I look towards the door. "Okay. Let's get out of here please."

He nods and points towards the door. "We have to go that way."

Before leaving with the other guy, I turn to Hayden. "Hey, Hayden, listen. Thank you so much for today. You have no idea how big of a help you've been. I would've lost my mind if it weren't for you."

He smiles. "Anything for you, my lady."

I laugh and shake my head. "Let's be friends. What say?"

I slap my forehead internally. Why am I asking this?

He smiles back. "Did you really plan to extract all that tea from me and then not be friends?"

This time, I'm the one who bites down a laugh.

"Shush already. I'm leaving now, bye! Let's talk in class tomorrow?"

He waves me bye. "Sure."

As I walk away from Hayden along with the guy who came up to me, I decide to ask him a few questions. What's the harm? The day has been wild and I'm going crazy. Maybe that'll help.

"So..." I begin. "How many people share a room?"

Without looking back at me, he replies, "Four to five."

I nod. "How many people are in our room?"

"Including you, five."

"Are the dorms in a separate building or something?" I ask.
