AT TYLLI'S PARENTS' HOUSE

Tylli and her parents were watching the television when they heard the doorbell rang.

Tylli
Pa, baka mga kaibigan ko po 'yon..

Papa
Masiyadong ma aga naman, anak?

Mama
Baka na miss lang ang anak natin, love.

Papa
Oh sige, pagbubuksan ko lang.

Mama
Hindi ba pupunta si Joshua, anak?

Tylli
Pupunta raw po, Ma. Baka may ginagawa pa.

They heard two people talking as they entered the living room: those were Joshua and Tylli's dad.

Papa
Si Josh pala anak. Akala ko yung ibang kaibigan mo.

Ikaw naman, Josh, you don't need na mag doorbell pa kung papasok ka rito sa bahay. You're welcome here.

Joshua
You're welcome, Tito. Respeto lang din po kasi bahay niyo pa rin ito.

Tita, good evening, for you.

He handed a bouquet of white lilies, white roses, hydrangeas, and purple caspia to Tylli's mom. It was a big bouquet and it would pass as a wedding bouquet.

Oh my gosh! White lilies, my favorite!

Her Mom went to Joshua to give him a hug and admired her beautiful bouquet. Tylli thought there was nothing for her, but she was wrong. Joshua gave her a paper bag full of books.

Bakit may pa ganito?

Joshua
Wala lang. I just feel like giving you gifts.

I have one for Butter too.

Come here, boy.

Joshua crouched down to pet Butter and gave him a new toy.

You didn't have to give these many though.

Joshua
I saw you trying to check them out in an online store before. I figured I'll buy it na lang kasi may malapit naman dito na bookstore.

Tylli

Tylli
Wala pa silang message? I thought sabay na kayong pupunta.

Joshua
They're probably on their way na. I did not tell them I'd go here early.

Tylli
Yeah.. alam na naman nila papunta rito. Didiretso na 'yon papasok kasi walang hiya naman ang mga 'yon na pumunta rito. Lalo na si Aiden.

Joshua
Ah. Was he always here before?

Tylli
Yes, he and Kuya Louie were always here after nung-

Nevermind.

Joshua
After what?

Tylli
The thing that happened six year ago. Matagal na 'yon..

Joshua was about to say something when he was interrupted by a voice and a group of people swarming inside the house.

Good evening, Tito, Tita, Bestie, Butter Baby, and everyone!

Good evening po. Mag bless kayo kay Lolo and Lola, babies.

Joshua
Sorry..

Joshua said just enough for Tylli to hear. Tylli looked at him and smiled.

Tylli
Okay lang..

Pwede pa alalay na lang? Naninibago pa kasi ako sa saklay ko.

Joshua
Sure.. hold on to me muna bago mo hawakan ang saklay mo.

Tylli held onto Joshua; encircling her arms around his shoulders and nape, while Joshua helped her stand up.

Tylli
Late kayo ng 2 minutes!

Their friends came to Tylli and greeted her with hugs and kisses, they also acknowledged Joshua's presence beside her

Oh ano pang hinhintay niyo? Tara na at mag dinner.

Aiden
Tara na po! Nagdala ako ng Tupperware. Don't worry may laman po itong Bistek.

When they went to the dining room, Joshua pulled a seat for Tylli. He put her crutches in a corner and sat beside her.

The room was filled with noise and laughters. For Tylli, she felt alive once again. Eversince the accident, she'd been longing to spend time with her friends. She missed them. So, to be in one room with the people she cares for, it gave her a hope that there will always be someone she could lean on.

As the food got served, Joshua put some on Tylli's plate before his. He put the dishes that he knew Tylli liked; he put an exact portion of the dish that he knew Tylli could finish. It was as if it was a normal thing for him to do.

Well, indeed, it was a normal thing for him, Tylli, and Tylli's parents to see. However, they weren't the only people in the room. They were with their friends. For them, every little thing Joshua does for Tylli has a meaning. But they kept their silence and just exchanged meaningful glances with each other. They know something, and they can't confirm it until none of the two clarifies it.
