Bruce walks into his room and closes the door behind him, locking it. He sighs and crawls into his bed, curling up in the blankets. "I'm sorry, Clark. I just can't talk about this kind of stuff easily. I wish I could." Bruce grabs one of his pillows and holds it close, tears welling up in his eyes once more.

"Bruce?" a few knocks come from the door. "Please talk to me. You're not alone." Clark sniffles and leans his head on the door. "Let me in, we don't even have to talk. Just being near you and knowing you're safe is enough." Bruce turns over and rolls out of bed. He slowly walks over to the door and slightly opens it, only revealing his face. "Bruce! Thank god you're alright. You just walked away and wouldn't talk to me. I got so worried-"

"Clark, your eyes are red. Were you crying?" Bruce furrows his brows and opens the door more. "I'm sorry," Bruce whispers while looking at the floor. Clark wraps his arms around Bruce and buries his face into the crook of his neck.

"Don't. Don't do that to me. I don't need an apology. I just want to make sure you're safe. You can talk to me but you don't have to. I won't force anything." Clark says as he hugs Bruce tighter. Bruce hugs him back and takes shuddered breaths, trying not to cry. Clark notices this and rubs small circles on his back. "It's okay. It's all okay. How about we get you to bed, hm? I think you need to rest." Bruce shakes his head and Clark scoffs. "Come on. You're going to rest one way or another." Clark picks him up, carrying him to the bed. Clark gently places Bruce down on the bed and sits on the edge of the bed himself.

Bruce stays silent and rolls over in his bed, covering himself with the blankets. "Bruce, you can't hide in blankets and expect me to leave," Clark says in a gentle voice and places a hand on Bruce's shoulder.

"Clark, just leave me alone. I'll be fine," Bruce mumbled into the blanket. Clark laughs as he hears Bruce. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing, nothing. I just find it odd. I've known you as a stone-cold vigilante ever since we discovered each other's secret identities. It's weird to see you act like a normal human." Clark tilts his head and smiles down at Bruce.

"I am human Clark," Bruce scoffed as He turned back over to look at Clark.

"I know you're human. That's why it warms my heart when I see you acting like one." Bruce's eyes widen as he hears Clark say this.

It...warms his heart? What? Bruce thinks to himself while looking at Clark's smiling face. "What is that supposed to mean?" Bruce asks in a slightly harsh tone. Clark puts his hands up and chuckles.

"It just means that I'm happy you can let yourself have emotions sometimes. I usually just see you being an almost heartless vigilante." Bruce looks away as he flushes slightly.

"Whatever. Not like it's a lot," Bruce says as he glares at Clark. Clark's face softens as he places his hand on Bruce's shoulder again which makes Bruce look at him.

"Bruce, it seems like a lot for me. I heard you crying after you woke up from a nightmare. While you were sleeping your heartbeat raced like crazy. I'm just worried," Clark says softly and furrows his brows while looking into Bruce's eyes. Bruce's eyes widen and he looks away. "Bruce, can you talk to me? Seeing you like this...it's not something that I've seen before. What was the nightmare about?"

Bruce glares before looking back at Clark. "It was a nightmare about my parents, okay? It was about how they were murdered in front of me! How I couldn't do anything! I was powerless to stop it and now I have to live with that." Bruce snaps at Clark. Clark was taken aback and sighed.

"Bruce you were a kid. You couldn't have done anything. Stop putting all of that guilt on yourself," Clark whispered as he got up.

"I could have tried to do something," Bruce says, his quiet voice harsh as he speaks.

"I can leave you alone, Bruce. I think rest would benefit you more than me being with you right now." Clark turns towards the door and starts walking away.

A wave of guilt washes over Bruce as he sees Clark get up from the bed. He wants to reach out and say something, anything. But he can't. Bruce sits under the covers paralyzed and he watches Clark walk out of the room.
