What happened...this

I have made it a year now since the outbreak, it started as a vaccination for a flu like virus that was lethal but ended up hurting humankind. I'm Lance by the way I'm 19 years old and I have not found any other survivers, yet, that is my main mission. Hopefully I can find a cure or at least a scientist with a cure so this can end. Lately I've been moving a lot, as I have ran out of food. When it all started I looted schools and homes in the country for supplies, but every time I settle in I get forced out by them...
