Astronomy Tower

Christmas Holidays were about to end in a week and I had not even started on my homework for any subject besides Astronomy and History of Magic yet. Of course, since I like the two topics, I cannot blame myself.

I sighed and looked at my parchments, I hate them. Why can the Magical World not get something like a notebook is beyond me. If they don't get something like this out by the time am physically 17, I am going to start selling them here. It doesn't even matter if notebooks are supposedly not safe to be around magic, I have learned enough about Ancient Runes to know that they can help me with that part in the future.

As I woke up today, I noticed Harry was still sleeping. The 'boy' has the worst luck with getting sleep since all he can worry about is if the future will be alright. I would suggest to him that he goes to a therapist if I didn't know that he would deny it and try to convince me that he is fine.

I sat up in my bed and went to freshen myself up. Then, I picked up my muggle science notes. Yes, my muggle science notes.

I was a Science student and had even gone to university for it. I even tried to invent something using Biochemistry in my first year there. Sadly, I wasn't able to compile enough data on the subject and then got too busy.

As I read my notes on Uncertainty Principle, it is a little boring but interesting. Basically, according to it, we cannot know the speed and the position of a particle, like a photon or an electron, at the same time. This is because we simply cannot observe them, at least with science. If we try to do so by using a microscope, for example, the natural order of the particle will be disturbed and we will not be able to get an accurate reading on it.

So, yeah, I read the notes I had written based on my admittedly bad memory, I am pretty sure I am forgetting a lot of inverse trigonometric stuff.

As I was reading my notes, nostalgia hit me and I remembered a time when I hated to study. I still do to some extent but now, I like learning new stuff because I can use it in magical experiments. For example, I was practising my vanishing spell when I asked myself what will happen if I used it on a microscopic level, like on an electron. Will it undergo a reaction or will something else happen?

So, yeah, with all my self-preservation, I decided to just write down all my scientific knowledge in a notebook.

I looked out the window and headed to the Astronomy Tower. It was nearby and had a calming quiet in which I can complete my homework.

I rested my bag on an empty desk in the room. Since this is also the Astronomy classroom, it has a lot of desks. I love this place, it is my favourite in the castle, except for the Gryffindor Common Room, but that place is mostly crowded.

I wrote a Potions recipe and then scribbled down its uses for a common person. I was about to complete my Potions assignment when a curious voice asked me, "What are you doing here, child?"

I looked around me and then saw a lady ghost in front of me, I recognised her as the Ghost of Ravenclaw House, the Grey Lady. I answered her, "I was just completing my work."

The Grey Lady looked at my assignment and said, "I see" and then looked commented, "It is done to a satisfactory level for your age, well done."

Now, it is a compliment for me, yeah, but I am not eleven so if this is just satisfactory then I do not want to know what is spectacular for her.

"Thank You."

It's not like I can do anything else in this situation.

The Lady Ghost looked over the rest of my work and then said, "Perhaps I should help you out, my time would be far more productive like this."

Well, that's brilliant! A Ravenclaw Ghost would be a treasure of knowledge and information, I can easily complete my homework like this. But alas, curiosity killed the cat. I asked her, "Can I ask you a personal question?"

The Ghost visibly narrowed her eyes and asked me a bit coldly, "You want to know my name too?"

I was a bit confused by that, what does she mean by that? I shook my head and said, "What do you mean by that? I wanted to know if we can use spells on a microscopic scale. I mean, we can use it on a macroscopic scale so it should be possible but-"

The Ghost stopped me and asked incredulously, "This is what you mean by a private question? I would gladly answer that for you. So, listen, child, control over power is the key factor here . . ."

And so went my entire morning that day.

As I was on my way to have a late breakfast, I crashed into a person. Usually, I would be surprised since Hogwarts is a very large place but at that moment, I just accepted my weird luck. I mean, crashing into someone while in a giant castle with about 20 other people, what are the chances?

I groaned, "Sorry" as I rubbed my shoulder.

I heard an angry huff and I looked at the source of the voice, it was Lily Evans, my fellow housemate and someone who hated me for some reason.

Look, I can accept someone hating me but for that, there must be a viable reason. C'mon, you hate me for no reason? Are you a loser with an enormous amount of time to waste to use on hate? That's stupid.

Lily muttered an angry, "Sorry" and then ran off in the direction of the Astronomy Tower.

I shrugged and walked to have my meal.

I feel really hungry, wow.
