A pretty long chapter ahead in which not much happens but it's still sort of all over the place

Amari's P.O.V.
"So how is it being like this? Deaf, I mean?" Marshall asks me bluntly as we lay facing each other on his bed in the hotel room.
I frown slightly, thinking most people won't just ask that question thinking it's rude. But from what I've noticed about him so far he just seems to be very blunt and not care. And it's not like the question he just asked really bothers me, I mean it's normal to be curious, I suppose, and it's really annoying how at times people tip toe around my deafness like they think it would offend me to ask about it.
Still, I'm so confused about this whole thing about being here with him, like I literally don't understand what am I doing with this guy.
After the concert ended at the venue, there was an After Party, which we had both skipped out on. It was kind of funny actually how neither of us even said anything about it, but he just took my hand and pretty much led me away to his car, taking us straight back to his hotel room. I barely saw Tonya by this point, but I guess she stayed partying with all those other guys in there.
Arriving back to his hotel room, I could tell Marshall was drunk and high both, apparently getting loaded in between his performances on set during the concert. Now he was trying to get me drunk too. I wasn't into all that at first, remembering well how things ended up last time I was drinking and doing drugs around him, but then I figured I might as well have fun. Next thing I knew we were having sex all over this damn hotel room just like on the first night we've met. Drugs and alcohol were fueling us up, I guess and kept us going for a very long time.
After we were done, we fell asleep in front of the TV together.
Waking up early in the morning, I crawled out of bed with him and went to take a shower.
Only for Marshall to wake up and follow me in there, and he ended up fucking me against the wall in the shower, afterwards we both got clean and felt so tired all over again that we just crawled right back in bed together. We cuddled and had small talk, until he decided to drop that question on me.
"Why you wanna know?" I ask, placing one of my hands under my cheek as I lay facing him.
"Dunno," he shrugs. "Just curious, I guess. Do it ever get boring, yo?"
"Boring?" I raise my eyebrows at him in surprise. "Um, no. Not at all. Why would it get boring? Honestly, I've been deaf for the majority of my life now and it's just... normal to me. The same way as being able to hear is to you, I guess. I mean, the first few days after the car accident, it was freaking me out. The constant silence was almost unbearable. But it's... I don't think that I would even take it any other way now."
"So you wouldn't fix it, if you could?" Marshall then frowns, causing me to frown as well.
"Fix it?"
"Yeah. If you could like... I don't know have surgery or some shit. Like a transplant or something."
"Honesty, I don't know," I shrug. "That was never an option for me, so I haven't even thought about that. I mean, if you had asked me that question back when I was like 7 years old, then I would've said hell yes, I wanted to fix it. Now, I don't know. I mean, I'm not like... suffering from this, Marshall," I laugh softly at the slight shock on his face. I know that it's hard for him to fathom what I'm saying to him, but that's only because he spent his whole life being able to hear, while I've spent the majority of mine being how I am.
