I stared into the night, hiding under a bush. The leaves brushed up against my skin, making it impossible to stay silent. The cold air surrounded me, forcing me to breathe out my nose to stop the air appearing from my mouth.
I'm waiting for Liam, if you're wondering. He's been gone for a while and if I couldn't control my wolf, I would be chasing after him right now. But I knew if I did that Malcolm would see me and possibly kidnap me. That was enough to convince me to stay put.
I heard a rustle in a bush nearby, and immediately I tensed up. As though my mind was the enemy, I started thinking of the worst possible scenarios. A small rabbit appeared from the bush and I sigh in relief. If that was anything else it would have been dead on the floor already just from me pouncing on it. Unless it had been another were, then things would've gone much differently.
"Come out now!" I hear Liam growl from behind me. I whimper but silently get up. His tone of voice scares me but annoyingly enough also made me feel tingly in my toes.
"What did you do?" I ask, turning so I'm facing his red face. I shiver with fear as anger is displayed right in front of me. I hate it when he's angry. It reminded me of the day he smashed my phone. That memory still lingered fresh on my brain.
"None of your business!" He snaps. "Now tell me why you're out here!" He shook his head, his face turning to a sad expression. He's disappointed in me and I can't help but whimper at that fact. I didn't want this to happen, I was just worried about him. I wanted to make sure he was alright.
"We'll talk about this at home." He grabbed my upper arm and yanked me forward. Pain made it's way through my arm as his grip tightened.
"Liam, please." I ask, whining from the pain. He looks at me expectantly. "Please, let go." He looks at his hand latched onto my arm, and his face softens. He loosens his grip after seeing me squirm in pain.
He shakes his head and his grip goes back to before. He doesn't want to look weak. Admirable, but not so much when I'm in the firing range. He pulls me back towards the house. I groan in frustration as my arm stings. As we are walking he looks in deep thought, as if to be mind linking someone. Whatever he's saying, it's about me.
Once inside, he growls at me.
"Why did you come? I told you to go to the basement! Were you planning on going with that man?" He booms down at me, his eyes showing the pain, but his face showing the anger. His face was so beautiful, yet so angry.
"Liam, I was scared. I was so worried about what would happen to you, I just had to see for myself." I start to get a bit tired. "I'm sorry." I say in complete remorse. Not once did I think about how he would feel about this.
"Sorry isn't good enough. You know what would happen if he had seen you? He would have known and he would bring an army of rogues." He placed his fingers on the bridge of his nose. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if he took you."
I was going to crumble and fall in his arms. But I thought again. I can't make him see I'm a weak girl who can be pulled around everywhere, so I stayed still. I thought about everything and I sighed. The harsh reality was, we hardly knew each other and this wasn't something I wanted to admit but it was so true.
"Liam, you would be fine without me." I shook my head.
"Are you kidding me? I would have no point in living Amber. No fucking point." He shouts and takes a step towards me, to which I take a step back. He looks betrayed, and I caused it. Someone he's supposed to trust with anything.
"We only just met!"
"We're mates. We were made for each other!" He looks hurt from what I said earlier.
