"Officers, thank you." Laurel spoke as all the teens sat, waiting to be punished. "It won't happen again, I can promise you that much."

"Tell Mr. Fisher the chief wants to set up a tee time when he gets back in town." The cop tells the woman.

"Absolutely." She nods. "Sorry again for all the trouble. Have a good night, Officers."

Esenae turned to look away from the woman, not wanting to face her wrath. "How could you guys be so irresponsible?" She questions them.

"Mom, it wasn't a big deal, alright? Seriously." Steven speaks up. "The cops were just looking to break up the bonfire."

"Not a big deal?" Laurel questions him, to which he said 'yes'. "I would say getting picked up by the cops for underage drinking is a pretty big deal, Steven."

Steven began to sniff the air. "Were— Were you guys... you guys smoking tonight?" He asks his mom.

"What? Keep your voice down. Susannah's asleep on the couch." She raised her voice.

"I wasn't yelling. We— you-you-you were." Steven stutters.

"Just so you know, Laurel, I-I didn't drink tonight. I was the DD, I swear." Jeremiah speaks up, in hopes of saving himself from getting in trouble.

"You're the oldest." She states, looking over at Conrad. "What the hell's gotten into you?"

Esenae furrowed her eyebrows as she listened to the way the woman talked to her brother. Although she knew Laurel her whole life, and loved her like a second mother, she hated when she acted like their mom.

"And when did you three leave the house without telling anybody?" Laurel looks at her two kids and Esenae. "And what in the world are you girls wearing?"

"You are not my mother." Esenae laughs.

"Excuse me?" Laurel folds her arms over her chest.

"I can wear what I want." She states.

"Why are we three the only one's not allowed to go out?" Belly questions her mother.

"It's not that you guys aren't allowed, it's that you should've told us you were going. How did you even get there?" Laurel says.

"We walked." Tae speaks quietly.

"It's not like you guys noticed we were gone anyways." Esenae speaks up. "You guys were too doped up on weed."

"What is with the attitude!?" Laurel exclaims.

"Nothing." Ess looks away from the woman.

"You guys know better than to walk that far alone at night!" She continues to get onto the three kids.
