07. | ESENAE AND TAYLOR
Everyone sat around the dinner table, talking amongst themselves. Taylor and Esenae were awkwardly avoiding eye contact, and every time they tried to glance at one another without the other noticing, they noticed. It was very awkward, but thanks to Esenae being sat by the loudest people at the table ( Jeremiah and Steven ) no one really noticed her.
"So, Cam," Jeremiah speaks up ( see the loudest ). "You mind if I call you Cam Cameron?"
"Mm." He laughed. "Yeah, man. Feel free. That's funny."
"I'm getting in on that, Cam Cameron." Esenae winked at him. She liked the nickname.
"I'm glad you're here, Cameron." Susannah admits. "I know your mom, Denise, from the club. I have heard a lot about you."
"Thank you so much for having me, Susannah." He says. "My mom says hi."
"He's so respectful." Esenae laughs, looking at her best friend.
"First impression always matters." Tae shrugs.
"Cam, have you ever had miyeok-guk before?" Laurel questions the teen. "It's a Korean birthday tradition."
"No. Looks so good. Thank you." He grabs the bowl from her.
"Belly told me you're vegetarian, so I didn't put any meat in it." Laurel confesses.
"Wow." Tae speaks up. "You're to blame for this monstrosity. I knew something tasted different."
"Tae stop it." Laurel glares at him.
"I'm only joking." He laughs, holding his hands up in defense. "I'm joking, Cam."
"Why don't you eat meat, Cam Cameron?" Jeremiah questions.
"Uh, the meat industry is, like, the number one contributor to global warming." Cam explains. "And I just, I like animals."
"Just don't come for my leather jacket." Taylor speaks up, but she was looking at Esenae the whole time.
The Fisher teen awkwardly looked down at her cup, taking a long sip from it before looking down again. What happened to all the confidence she had earlier when she kissed Taylor and admitted to having feelings for her? No idea.
"I'm pretty sure you mean pleather." Steven jokes, causing Esenae to elbow him in the ribs. "O-Ow. What!?"
"You're such a jackass." She rolls her eyes, glancing at Taylor momentarily, who held a grateful look on her face.
"You know, uh, actually, Belly eats meat." Jeremiah speaks up again. "So, you let her kiss you with those lips?"
"Guys... Stop." Belly says.
"You're a jackass, Jere." Tae speaks up, glancing at the boy who held a smirk on his face.
"No, I don't judge people for eating meat." Cam admits. "It's just, like, a personal choice. I don't care."
