"Tacenda: things better left unsaid; Matters to be
passed over in
Scilence."

Once I got done with feeding and watering everyone, I closed the barn door’s and headed up to the house. Once I got their everyone was in the living room except for Auntie Tiff and my Mom, who were in the kitchen having a glass of wine while waiting for dinner to be done.

I walk into the kitchen to wash my hands and when I do, Tiff stops me. “So how have you been kiddo?” She asks as I make my way to the sink. “I’m doing good. Happy that schools out and I get more time with the horses, and its rodeo season.” I tell her while washing my hands. “Did you feed everybody?” My mom asks me. “Yes ma’am.” I reply.

My mom nodded her head in response as Tiff asked me more questions. “How are you and smoke doing?” she asked. “Were doing better then we were. He’s defintaly let his personality shine a lot more then he used to. Were still training a few things, when he gets excited he tends to bolt and the only way to get him to stop is if you pull his nose into his shoulder. Then he’ll spin in a tight circle for a while, but I don’t take the pressure off his face until he does stop. Were also entered in a few rodeos and shows this summer. Ebony too actually.” I tell her, ranting a bit.

“Your gonna show Ebony?” Both Tiff and mom asked at the same time. “Yea, a few small rodeos in barrels and poles. She misses it, shes bored sitting in her stall and the pasture and mainly just being a trail horse. I’m hoping it’ll help her get her spark back, especially after today. She was AMAZING! You saw it mom, she’s rarely like that anymore.” I tell them.

“Alright. But only a few small ones, she is still up their in age and you have to be careful how much you work her, and how hard you work her.” Mom says taking a sip of her wine. “I know Mama. That’s why I don't take her out to do barrels and poles as much anymore. But this could be really good for her. And the second she shows signs that something’s wrong, I’ll pull her out.” I tell her.

“When did you get so mature and knowledgeable hmm?” Tiffany asks. I chuckled a bit before responding. “I’ve been taking care of most of those horses for half my life, I know everything their is to know about my horses. I know what's good for them and what's not, and I won’t ever push them beyond their limits. I do push them, but not to the point they break.” I  tell her.

“Well damn. You definitely grew up from the young silly girl you were last time I saw you kiddo.” Tiffany says and I laugh again. “I’ve changed Tiff, and for the better too.” I tell her as my mom pulls me into a side hug. “That’s for sure; but would you stop getting so big? Let your mama be taller then you for a while longer you stinker!” My mom said while laughing. “No promises. I’m gonna go in the living room and talk with Piper.” I say before walking away into the other room.

I walk into the living room and sit next to Piper, who’s sitting next to lev who’s playing video games with Jentzen. “How was your ride?” Piper asked me. “It was good. Ebony absolutely rocked those runs, we broke our PR to.”  I reply while crossing my left leg over the other.

“Awesome!! You two have always been amazing together!” she says. “Well we both learned from the best.” I say as I play with my necklace. “Speaking of which, how are you holding up?”

She asks and catches me slightly off guard. “I’m hanging in here. Doing alot better than I was a few years ago, I’ve got Steele and Ebony keeping me busy so it’s easier not to think about it. But when I’m on Ebony, its hard not to think about it, but its not the memories of the hospitals and when he was sick, but when he was teaching me how to ride, and how to take care of the horses correctly, and when he bought me my first pony. It’s all the good stuff.” I told her.
