The next day, both of them awaken from their winged cocoons. They had both wrapped themselves in their wings to sleep and weren't bothered the whole night. They both unwrap themselves and stand up to stretch. Diane groans and looks at Devin. They both look at each other for a second before starting to think of the same thing. "Want to go rob a bank?" Devin asks, grinning. "Hell yeah!" Diane says, before running and jumping off of the building. Devin follows her and they both fall through the air into an alleyway. They both spread their wings and land carefully on their feet. They both run to the street and start looking for a bank they can hit in the city.
After walking for a few minutes, they find a huge white building. They go up the stairs and through the glass doors. They look around at the high ceilings and shiny walls. Everyone was staring at them both in shock. They knew they couldn't be the strangest thing that had walked on the streets of New York. They walk through the crowd and then get to the front on the line. Diane leans against the counter and Devin crosses his arms. The lady sighs, she had heavy eye bags covered by glasses resting on her face. Her hair was a dark gray and she wore a nice blue suit. "How can I help you?" she asks, not paying any mind to what they looked like. "Nice seeing you, Morticia. We're just gonna go steal some things and be on our way." Diane says, casually. She knew the lady's name just as she knew the name of everyone on Earth, dead or alive. The lady's eyes widened, she stood up quickly and began backing up. Diane holds her hand out and a fireball forms within it. "Sit back down." Diane says, calmly. The lady starts breathing heavily as she begins to panic. "Who are you?" she asks, her breath quivering. "I'm your worst nightmare." Diane says, widening her eyes and smiling wildly at her. The lady faints and everyone starts running out of the bank. One of the workers gets on the phone and calls the cops as Diane and Devin start walking to the vaults. They both stand in front of the huge metal door. Diane breaks open the door with the flick of her wrist. The door creaks open and they both go inside. They both start picking up stacks of money before leaving the vault and leaving the bank. They both ran off before the cops could get there. They run down the street, dodging cars. Diane looks behind her and then hears screeching tires in front of her. She looks in front of her and puts her hands out in front of her. She catches the car with her bare hands and looks at the driver. The lady gets out of the car in shock and looks at Diane. She stares at her dented car and then at Diane who had just taken her hands off. "Impressive." she says, smiling. "What's your name?" she asks. "Diane. Nice to meet you, Ava." Diane says, looking at her necklace and white eyes. Ava looks at her confused. "I didn't tell you my name." she says. She pauses. "How would you like to come with me? I can give you somewhere to stay so you don't have to do things like rob banks." she says. Diane looks to Devin and he nods. "Alright." Diane says. Ava looks at Devin and then looks Diane up and down. "Are you a demon?" Ava asks. "Demon, Hellion, either one." she says. "Interesting." Ava says. "Well, looks like we aren't driving there since you damaged my car, guess we are walking." says Ava. Devin and Diane follow Ava to her base of operations, ASR.
After walking several blocks, they all get to the building and admire all the glass and modern architecture of the building. They go inside and go into the elevator. "Have you two ever thought of being good rather than bad?" Ava asks. "Hmm. Nope." Diane says. "Never." Devin says. Ava shrugs. As the elevator rises, Diane starts to get a strange feeling, like something bad was going to happen. She tried to think of something else but the sensation had taken over her mind. Her face was pale and she was tapping her foot rapidly. The elevator dings and the doors slide open. The three of them walk into the room and go over to the bar. Diane and Devin both sit down and Ava leans against the counter in front of them. "Water?" she asks. "Sure." Diane says. Ava gets out a cup from one of the cabinets and puts ice in it before filling it with water. She slides the cup over to Diane and she grabs the cup. She looks at the ice before taking a drink. She spits the water back into the cup after the water had burned her mouth. "Ah!" she shouts. Ava and Devin look at her with concern. Diane grabs the cup and holds her hand below it. Fire starts in her palm and she boils the water before taking another sip. She looks at Ava and then relaxes her shoulders. "The ice." she says. All of the ice had melted so it was just hot water. "So nothing cold I guess?" Ava asks. "Apparently." Diane says, putting the cup down. Ava looks at them both. "I'll have to test your abilities, but I'll give you a day to get used to everything." she says, standing up straight. "Follow me." she says, walking away from the bar. Diane and Devin get onto their feet and follow Ava to two rooms. Ava opens both doors and reveals two bedrooms. She always had spare bedrooms just in case something ever happened or if she worked overnight. "These are the rooms you can stay in." she says. Diane goes into the first room and dives onto the bed. She lays there and closes her eyes, getting comfortable. Devin goes into his room and sits down on the bed. "Thanks, Ava!" he says, smiling. "Can't wait to work with you." she says, closing the door behind her. "Make yourself at home." Ava says. Diane was already asleep, so Ava just closed the bedroom door. They both had a place to stay, and a new purpose.
