The Dark War

The next morning Diane wakes up in her bedroom and looks outside to see darkness. The sky was pitch black. There were no stars, no moon, and no sun. She leaves her room and looks at the time to see that it was 10:00 am. "What the hell?" Diane mutters. She goes into Devin's room to see him sleeping in his bed. She goes over to him and shakes him awake. "Devin, you have to see this." she says. "Wh-What?" Devin asks, half asleep. Diane goes over to his curtains and opens them. "So what?" Devin asks. "It's ten in the morning." Diane says. "What?" Devin asks, shocked. He gets out of bed and walks over to the window. "It looks like dark magic," he says. "Scarlett." Diane says, quietly. They both look at each other before gulping. Diane goes back into her room and puts on her super suit. She prepares herself before going into Devin's room to see him wearing a tight black suit with their demonic symbol on it. They both look at each other before walking together to the exit. They leave the base and get to the side walk. Diane looks around before starting to fly to the top of a building. Devin follows her and they both sit at the edge of a building, looking for Scarlett. They sit there for a few minutes before hearing the sound of screaming and car alarms. They both look at each other with fear and uncertainty before jumping off of the building and flying to the scene. They land on the street to see Scarlett walking towards them. They both get ready as Scarlett stops. She laughs menacingly before flying into the air with black smoke surrounding her. Diane throws a fireball at Scarlett, but she catches it and throws it back at her. Diane moves out of the way before it could hit her as Devin charges at Scarlett. He starts to fight her as Diane rushes to join. There were many punches thrown until they were both knocked back by Scarlett's black magic. They both hit the ground and skid scraping their skin on the rough concrete. They stand up as Diane gets an idea. She looks at Devin and motions him to go to her. Devin nods before running back to Scarlett. Devin punches Scarlett and lands on the other side of her, making her turn her attention to him. Diane grabs a car with her power and throws it at Scarlett, hitting her. Devin ducks and flies back to Diane. Scarlett gets off of the ground and groans angrily. She grabs Diane with her smoke and throws her. She starts tearing down buildings with people in them, making them start falling. Diane gasps and then uses her power to stop them. Devin turns his back on Scarlett to try and help Diane. Scarlett summons a sword into her hand and throws it at Devin. It lands in his back as Diane gets the buildings back in their place. She turns around to see the sword sticking out of her brother's back. "Devin!?" Diane screams, running over to him. Devin stumbles and then collapses into Diane's arms. Diane looks at the sword to see that it was the only one that could kill a demon. She pulls out the sword and tosses it behind her. "Devin?" Diane asks, starting to panic. Scarlett grabs Diane by her leg and starts flying into the air. "Devin!" Diane shouts, getting farther and farther off of the ground. Scarlett flies up all the way until she reaches the clouds in the sky. "No, please!" Diane pleads. Scarlett gives Diane an evil smile before summoning a dagger and slicing a hole in her wing. "Ah!" Diane shouts. Scarlett drops her and Diane falls through the air. "Shit!" she shouts, trying to balance herself. The wind presses against her body and blows her hair into her face, making her go blind for a moment. She tries to fly, but fails. She gets her hair out of her face and looks to see the ground getting closer and closer. She loses her balance and flips to her back as she still falls. Then, she hits the ground. She wasn't in pieces, but she was in pain. Demons had really thick skin and it was hard to kill them. Diane lays there in severe agony. Tears fall from her eyes from the pain as she screams loudly. Scarlett lands on her feet farther down the street and she starts using her power to create a snowstorm. The temperature starts dropping quickly, making Diane scream more. It was burning her. Ice to fire demons was like fire to humans. Scarlett opens a portal and steps through it, leaving Diane alone to die. The roads start to freeze and get covered in snow. Diane gets onto her stomach and starts crawling over to Devin while sobbing uncontrollably. She reaches his body and lays there holding it tightly. "Devin, no!" Diane shouts, tears blurring her vision. The snow landing on her skin was burning her, but she didn't care. She sobs over Devin's body as pain and sadness wash over her. Every bone in her back had broken and she was bleeding out. Devin was gone and Diane was slowly dying.
After a few minutes, Diane lets go of Devin's body and tries to stand up. She falls back to her knees before getting to her feet again. She takes one last look at Devin before leaving him. She limps all the way back to the base and goes into the medical lab. She tried to heal herself, but she had no energy. She grabs a bottle of painkillers and takes a few of them out. She puts them into her mouth and gets a cup of water. She takes the pills and then gets into the hospital bed in the room. She lays back and passes out.
