The moon hung high in the night sky as the air buzzed with activity. Tonight was a festival. More specifically, a celebration. It was traditional to gather with your friends, neighbors, and loved ones to celebrate the survival of a harsh, cold winter, and move on to the calmer season of spring, filled with warming sunshine and gentle showers to melt away all the stress of wondering where your next meal would come from.
In a decently sized village, pokemon danced together to the wonderful music that swept throughout the entire area. The adults drank together and laughed together whilst singing along, and all of the kits and hatchlings rolled around on the ground together and made friends with each other.
"Come on! Germaine's about to go up on stage!" An excited voice called out, riling up several others nearby until the atmosphere was thick with anticipation, a group gathering in the center plaza of the village. Germaine, anyone would have known the name. He was said to have gone wherever the winds of Lugia guided him and his music, becoming a world renowned musician over the course of his travels.
Each rumor was more exuberant than the last, saying that his songs pierced through the sky and reached the stars above, bringing feelings of peace and kinship to even the most hostile, aggressive legendaries. Even now, having settled down after traveling what most could only assume was the entirety of the known world, and perhaps even uncharted territories, mons still flocked at any given opportunity to have Germaine's sound bless their senses once more.
The crowd, surrounding a wooden platform that served as a stage, fell to a soft murmur as paw steps echoed throughout the anxious plaza. Slowly but surely, ears first, then a head, and with the rest of him following, a flareon stepped up onto the stage, smiling and waving at the sea of faces waiting to greet him. Before he had even reached the middle of the stage, the moon serving as his spotlight amidst all the colors of the festival, the crowd erupted into a roar, thunder of stamping and clapping reaching the edges of the whole forest and shaking the newly green trees. Germaine took a bow with a grin, only further exciting the crowd as he basked in the glory.
The flareon was by no means a showboat, but he couldn't help but feel an appreciation for all the support and excitement even his mere presence brought about. His grin, however, had nothing to do with that. Oh no, the show hadn't even begun. Stepping to the side of the wooden platform, with his trusty guitar held in one of his paws, he used his other to gesture back to the stairs on which he had arisen, only the for the crowd's gaze that followed to be met with empty air. At least, that's what had appeared to be the case in the moment.
Soon, that empty space was filled with another mon, short, well-groomed pastel-blue fur drifting slightly in a cross breeze. The second mon was far more sheepsih in front of the crowd, her feminine form shrinking slightly at all of the sudden noise as the crowd erupted yet another time, almost louder than the first, many shrill voices managing to breech the seemingly impenetrable uproar.
"It's Lumi! Germaine's performing with his mate!"
"She has the most beautiful voice of anyone!"
"I must be dreaming!"
The duo up on stage, Germaine and Lumi, a flareon and a glaceon, linked their paws and took a bow together. Nobody in the crowd could see it, but Germaine was subtly squeezing his mates paw in a slow rhythm like a heartbeat, knowing that it helped calm the glaceon down. No matter how many times she went on stage with him, Lumi had never managed to escape her stage fright.
The noise from the crowd died down as the two demanded all eyes, a deafening silence replacing the once lively atmosphere. The flareon took a step forward, still not pulling his paw away from the glaceon as he cleared his throat, rehearsing in his head everything in a fraction of a second, before he threw it all out the window, letting his gut and emotions take control of his maw.
