VII. GOD ONLY KNOWS

"Absolutely hilarious joke," one of the Usopp pirates said sarcastically.

(Y/N) and Zoro were lagging behind the rest, still finding their prank to be the funniest thing ever.

"The teeth and tongue were a nice touch," Zoro complimented.

"Ah, so you were looking at my tongue, Zoro?" This caused the swordsman's face to burst into flames.

"S-Shut up! You know what I meant!" He stomped ahead to catch up with Nami, Luffy, and the three young pirates. (Y/N) laughed and jogged ahead.

Nami had asked the kids to take them to the mansion, and they obliged, knowing their captain was probably already there.

They snuck into the gardens and saw Usopp sitting in a tree, talking animatedly to a blonde girl through a window. The kids explained the story of Kaya, and how Usopp's lies of adventure have been helping her recover from her parents' deaths. 

The girl's face was turning red from laughing so hard. 

"I've decided! Let's ask this girl for a ship!" Luffy said.

"But, there's really strong guards at the gate..." One of the kids explained. 

"Where'd Luffy go?" (Y/N) noticed the absence of his captain. All of them turned around to see Luffy preparing himself to slingshot over the gate.

"LUFFY NO!" They all rushed over and grabbed him, trying to stop him.

"Gomu Gomu No.... Pardon the intrusion!" He said cheekily, and let go. The pirates and the kids got launched along with the captain. They landed harshly on the ground beneath Usopp. Kaya and he stared at the rubber boy in shock.

"We're here to ask for a biiiiiig ship-" Luffy started.

"Halt there!" A man with insanely long legs stalked over to them.

"I do not appreciate you breaking into Lady Kaya's home!" He scolded. 

He smells like cleaning supplies. A butler, maybe?

The man used the base of his palm, where it connected to his wrist, to push up his glasses. It stuck out to (Y/N)- why not just use his fingers?

"Klahadore..." Kaya started but trailed off upon seeing his stern expression.

The butler scolded the pirates for trespassing, and then having the audacity to ask for a ship on top of that. He then turned to Usopp, noticing the boy hiding behind a tree.

He began to insult Usopp's father, saying he was a filthy pirate and that he abandoned his family for treasure. Despite Kaya's pleas for him to apologize, Klahadore just kept going.

Zoro put a firm hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder when he noticed the boy starting to growl a little bit.

Usopp leaped from his tree branch, using a clever grappling hook to slow his fall.

"Shut up!" He demanded.

"Why don't you tell another lie? That your father was a traveling salesman, or-"

The butler was interrupted by Usopp's fist, right in his face.

"I will never be embarrassed about my father! He was a man of the seas! You're right- I may be something of an exaggerator, but I'll never lie about my pride to be a pirate's son!" the boy ranted. I like him. (Y/N) commented to himself.

"You have an interesting way of glorifying pirates. But make no mistake- your filthy blood is there. You run around spouting lies, and you even resort to violence whenever you're angry." the butler responded.
