I kept the windows down as I drove to work, allowing the wind to mess up my freshly done hair, although I don't care. Allowing the wind to flow through my hair was always one of my favorite feelings, arm out the window, music playing in the background, sun blazing on my skin. When my brother and I were stationed together, we used to take long drives together after particularly hard days or when either of us needed a pick-me-up. Now that we are no longer stationed together I take drives by myself in order to feel closer to him, he's one of my best friends.

As I arrive at work, I pull into the parking lot and park in my designated spot. I push the visor down and open the mirror in order to fix my hair so I don't look like a crazy lady walking into the base I'm stationed at.

Upon arriving at my desk, I find my coworkers watching me the whole time I adjust into work. Curious as to what they're looking at, I turn to my friend and ask:

"Is something wrong with my appearance today or am I missing something?"

She laughs and says, "Apparently there's a rumor that you need to go see Admiral Jones in his office but I haven't heard anything else."

I roll my eyes at being forced into a meeting with the Admiral but I don't reply to her as I push my seat away and stand, wanting to get this meeting over with as fast as possible. Turns out, I would enjoy this meeting far more than I expected.

To be honest, my time stationed in Louisiana wasn't my favorite. Why? Many reasons, but the main being I was too far away from my brother and everyone always thought I was only there because of him. Which isn't true at all. Despite being related to Jake "Hangman" Seresin, I am still my own person. I've always been trying to prove that I'm not just his shadow that follows him everywhere. I never disliked my brother for everyone saying I was just his shadow, he actually always told people of my accomplishments that differed from his when people mentioned it, but I don't want him to stick up for me anymore. I want people to know me without thinking about him. However, he's still one of my favorite people, along with my other friends from my time at Top Gun, my favorite place in the world.

Speaking of, as I went to knock on Admiral Jones' office door, it opened before me with a squeak from the hinges with the Admiral standing in front of me with a slight smirk on his face. I had grown to like Admiral Jones at my time here but only to a certain extent. He was nice enough but he had a weird vibe that I could never put my finger on to figure out why I could never really like him.

"Lieutenant Seresin, perfect timing. Come in." He spoke with a smirk just small enough that I could barely notice but I could tell something was up.

"Yes, sir. May I ask what this meeting is about?" I asked, hopeful that I could just get back to my work and maybe take my plane out for a spin today. I hadn't been out to fly in a couple weeks, needing to fill out paperwork instead of taking joy rides.

"I'll make this fast. Lieutenant, you've been requested to return to Top Gun." Now that...was not what I expected. As hard as I tried, I couldn't keep my jaw from going slack. I was shocked.

"I'm sorry, sir, what?" I shook my head, thinking I imagined what he said. Turns out, I heard him loud and clear.

"Yes, Bumblebee, you're going back to Top Gun. You've been requested for a special detachment, only the best of the best are going and that happens to be you. You'll be on the first flight out tonight, you better get packing." He said, the most serious I had pretty much ever seen him.

"Thank you, sir. I appreciate it." Wow, who knew I would ever get called back to my favorite place on earth?

"You're welcome, enjoy your time away from here. You'll be back soon enough. You're dismissed Lieutenant." Jones said with a nod of his head, indicating I could finally leave his office.

I nodded back at him as I reached for the door handle, "Thank you again, sir. Good luck with the amateurs I'm leaving you with."

I grinned at his response as I left, "That I'll need, Bumblebee."

Once I returned to my desk, packed my belongs that I would need to take with me and told my friend that I would be gone for a few weeks, I headed back to my apartment to finish packing there.

After packing most of my belongings that I would need for the few weeks I would be gone, I remembered my brother and decided to call him.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Sammy! Hi! What's up?" My brother said as he answered.

"Hey, Jake. I have some news for you." I said as I laid my phone on my bed and put it on speaker so I could continue packing.

"Oh, yeah? I have news for you too. You first though." I grinned at my phone knowing he would be shocked at what I was about to tell him.

"I've been called back to Top Gun!" I squealed in excitement.

"No way!" Jake yelled, and I could hear his excitement for me.

"I know, right? I never thought I'd get to go back. Anyway, what's your news?" I asked, hoping it was something just as good.

"Well...I've been called back too!" My jaw went slack for the second time today. Jake and I were going back to Top Gun together! This couldn't be more exciting.

"Oh my god! We'll get to fly together again! I can't wait to see you!" I couldn't believe this. The Seresin twins were back in the skies together. It had been years since we had flown together, this would be amazing.

"I know! When do you fly in? I'll be there later tonight."

"I'll probably be there by then too, my flight isn't as long as yours. Do you want to meet up, maybe go to the Hard Deck?" I knew he would say yes, he loved the Hard Deck but I figured I'd ask anyway in case he wanted to do something else.

"Of course I do! Once I get in and settled I'll text you and we can meet up." A smile graced my face as I thought about getting to see my brother again.

"Perfect, I'll see you later then, Hangman." I smirked knowing me calling him by his call sign would make him laugh.

As I predicated, he laughed on the other end of the phone and said, "I'll see you later, Bumblebee. I can't believe I'm stuck with you again."
