Once upon a time, long, long ago... well, more like 20 years ago... Belle, my mom, married her Beast, my dad, in front of 6,000 of their closest personal friends. Instead of a honeymoon, my dad united all of the kingdoms and got himself elected king of the United States of Auradon. He rounded up all the villains and sidekicks and he booted them off to the isle of the lost with a magical barrier to keep them there. No magic. No fresh food. No wi-fi. No way out. Until now.
I sat in the corner of the room on a plush blue and gold chair reading Cinderella's story for the 300th time wondering how her son turned out the way he turned out. I looked up as I heard the tailor scolding Ben. I watched as our parents entered the room and headed past me, straight to Ben. Ignoring them was easy until I heard my father yell something. I raised my head and listened to Ben explain why he should get his way and as per usual, he got his way. "Brielle, you'll have to write up the paperwork for this. Hand it in by tonight," my father ordered as he left the room.
I did all of Ben's paperwork since he was dyslexic and they didn't want anyone finding out. "I'm sorry you got stuck with my paperwork, Bri. I can try to help-" he began suggesting before I cut him off.
"No thanks, your majesty. You'll just mess it up," I snap as I shut my book harshly before leaving the room. I heard him say my name softly as I walked down the hallways to my office. I sat down and began writing to the other kingdoms to inform them of Ben's proclamation as well as request for a driver to pick them up from the Isle. A notice was posted on the school's website stating that all the students would be required to attend the welcoming of the VKs as well as a request for the marching band to play to welcome the Isle kids. I emailed fairy godmother about creating a class specifically for the VKs to help guide them through their time here and she said she'd deal with it.
Some of the royals had problems with the proclamation but once I reiterated Ben's point of them not being their parents, most of the royals caved. The only royals still not on board were Queen Leah and Snow White. By the time I had finished dealing with everything and sending everything I'd done to my father, it was nearly eleven o'clock at night. "Just five minutes," I said resting my head on my desk and closing my eyes.
"-majesty! Your majesty!" I heard yelling and groaned as I opened my eyes, only to be blinded by the lights. I stared at the digital clock on my desk for a few seconds before popping up. There, in front of my desk, stood Mrs. Potts and her son, Chip. Mrs. Potts arms were crossed over her chest and Chip stood behind her holding in a laugh. "It is almost time for you to greet the new students and you haven't showered or gotten dressed yet. Chop! Chop!" She yelled ushering me towards my room that was connected to the office.
I smiled sheepishly and sped to the bathroom. Taking a quick shower and brushing my teeth, I rushed out of the bathroom to find clothes laid out already. I groaned as I realized which dress she'd pulled out. It was one of my mother's old dresses she'd given me.
I sighed and threw it on before rushing downstairs, planting a peck on Mrs. Potts' head and Chip's cheek. Mrs. Potts and Chip had been there for me and were more family than my blood. I'd even taken to calling Mrs. Potts mom a few years ago in private and Chip was like my older brother. When I got down to the courtyard, I immediately stood next to Ben as Audrey scowled at me. "You were nearly late Brielle," she said with a smirk as fairy godmother glared at me.
"That's Princess Brielle Beast or your majesty to you, Princess Audrey," I spat as fairy godmother rolled her eyes at our antics, "You forget in a few weeks I'll be crowned princess, the royal advisor and am currently second in line for the throne, while you, Princess, are hoping to marry into power and trust me when I say, you won't be. I'm sure Ben will find some girl who's not as fake and stuck up as you are, Princess." She gasped and turned to me with her mouth open but before she could say anything, Ben announced that the transfers were arriving.
The band music was blaring as they pulled up and I just sighed and closed my eyes. I heard a bit of commotion before Ben tapped me to begin introductions. I observed them as I spoke, "Welcome to Auradon Prep. I am Princess Brielle Beast. This is his majesty, Prince Ben Beast, soon-to-be king, and his girlfriend, Audrey Beauty.
You, Mal, Daughter of Maleficent and Princess of the Moors, Evie Grimhilde, Daughter of the Evil Queen and Princess of Germonia, Carlos De Vil, Son of Cruella De Vil, and Jay Jafar, Son of Jafar and future Royal advisor, if you wish to be, have been specifically chosen to grace our halls, learn our ways, teach us yours, and gain a better life. Do not waste this opportunity thinking of petty revenge for your parents or making trouble within the school walls. You have three strikes. If you waste them, you will be expelled and sent back to the Isle.
You will each be appointed an advisor for your first few weeks here. Your advisors will know how to protect you and themselves. Be mindful that these advisors have been spelled, so I will always be aware of their whereabouts and well-being. You will also be supplied with phones that you must keep on your personal at all times. These phones detect your specific heartbeat and will be yours for the rest of your life and are equipped with trackers.
Your luggage will be checked by your advisors and any suspicious materials or things that a written off as contraband will be taken and given to me. All these things are for you specifically because while we do want to give you a chance and allow you to be normal students of Auradon Prep, we are still aware of how, with who, and where you grow up. These measures must be taken to ensure the safety of yourselves and our other students. On another note, you have one class that is not on the regular timetable. This class will help you grow and flourish here in Auradon and hopefully, it will help you unlearn some negative ways you may have." I pause for a moment before continuing, "Please enjoy the next four years here and when his majesty is finished with your tour, please come to me so that we can do a diagnostic test to know what classes to place you in."
I nod to them and turn to Ben. "Your majesty," I say as I curtsey and walk away to my office to finalize some documents. I thought about them as I walked. They were huddled together, linking pinkies and glaring slightly. They were obviously nervous which was understandable since they were in a new environment. I hoped Audrey didn't act how she usually acted and set them off.
Mal looked ready to fight with her hands wrapped up and the glare painted on her face. I think I even saw a bit of blood on the purple leather jacket she wore. Evie seemed a bit calmer as she had a soft smile on her face and bright eyes. Her dress swayed as she rocked. The way hair fell from the bun she had it in made her look ethereal and Jay with his slicked back hair, there was no other word for the way he looked but sharp.
He stood tall with his hands wrapped to his elbows and a yellow and black leather vest. Carlos looked as though he was waiting for someone to set him off. His eyes kept moving around frantically. I shook my head at my thoughts as I continued walking to my office.
