I actually believed I was dead from Ghostface choking me. I thought he had managed to kill me but when my eyes opened, I realize that I'm not dead after all.
Slowly, I regained consciousness and my eyes fluttered open, seeing the ceiling of a bedroom. I couldn't recall whose bedroom I was in. I knew it wasn't mine.
I tried to think of what happened before.
Ghostface attacked me, I knew that. But that was only because I tried to distract him from harming Annika. She was supposed to go to mine and Danny's apartment using the ladder. I really hoped she made it. I don't think I could live with the guilt of not saving her. Mindy would hate me forever.
I started to get up, but then, immediately felt very dizzy and had to gingerly lie back down again on the floor. Getting up too quickly was quite the rush and made me feel lightheaded. I felt pain all over my body and knew it was Ghostface who stabbed me. One I felt on my shoulder and the gash felt pretty deep.
Fuck Ghostface. Seriously.
"Josh! Josh?!" I heard Sam and Danny calling for me with fear and worry.
I could barely get up because of the tremendous amount of pain, so I gave up again. Then Danny and Sam rushed into the room along with Chad and Tara.
"Fuck, Josh!" Even Chad couldn't believe the state I'm in.
"I could've been worse," I muttered, lightly joking. "Can someone just help me get up, please? But be careful, cause he stabbed me in the shoulder."
Danny and Chad were the ones helped me to get up. I groaned a little at the pain, but I was able to start walking out of the room.
"How is everyone?" I asked them. "Annika?"
"She barely made it," Danny answered. "Not in the best shape, but at least she's still alive. She's going to go to the hospital."
That gave me a lot of relief to know that Annika actually made it out alive. At least I managed to save one person.
We were going outside and there was a lot of commotion already. The cops and ambulance was here. Couple of the EMT guys wanted to see me because of how I was injured. So, they had to put me on a gurney to get me checked out, and heal my shoulder wound.
🔪
It's morning and we're outside of the apartment building. My shoulder got taken care of. It was wrapped in bandages and still really hurts, but painkillers made it somewhat bearable. One of the EMT guys allowed me to leave after what they've done and I got off the gurney with their help.
I wanted to look for where the others were, but I noticed that Kirby was here and rushed toward me. Her arms wrapped me in an embrace and I tried to wrap my own arms around her even though it hurts with my injured shoulder. She could tell I wasn't holding her the same, and slightly backed away.
"What's wrong with you?" Kirby asked with worry and concern. Her eyes looked over my body and noticed my wound. "I know you're hurt."
"Ghostface stabbed me in the shoulder last night while I was trying to prevent him from getting to Annika," I explained. "Then he fucking choked me. Despite all of that I'm still alive. Maybe he didn't want to kill me just yet."
"You know how they always have their appointed timing for their certain kills," Kirby reasoned then a wry smirk came onto her face. "Usually the best remaining survivors are saved for last at the Third Act."
"Yeah, that is true," I agreed. "What are you doing here anyway? How did you even know about this?"
"I'm a part of this case now, Josh. I know that his daughter just died last night."
