sunday morning, waking up only to find my best friend, alena, sleeping on the floor. i laughed to myself, remembering that last night she was taking my blankets and i pushed her off the bed. i guess she never got back up.

i went downstairs and made us each a bowl of cereal and i brought them upstairs.

"hey, alena! wake up!" i said, somewhat loudly to alena.

"no..." she covered her face. "why..." she said.

"because. one: you're on the floor, and two: i have food." she sat up so fast once i said that i had food. she took her bowl of cereal from me and began, literally, stuffing her face with lucky charms.

after we ate, we just watched netflix. we started at season one episode one of criminal minds, and next thing you know, it was 3:30pm and we had 30 minutes until my mom came home.

since there was 30 minutes left, and my mom doesn't let me have social media, i decided to ask vanessa if she wanted to facetime while we can.

alex: hey vanessa wanna facetime? my mom's not home for like 30 minutes so we can.

vanessa: uh... no... i can't... umm i'm busy i have to go bye!

"that was weird," i said out loud. alena gave me a puzzled look, so i showed her my phone and she rolled her eyes.

"this so called 'vanessa'," she said, putting air quotes around vanessa, "is probably a creepy old man and that's why SHE can't facetime you, so you won't know who SHE really is." alena said, and turned criminal minds back on.

i signed and leaned against the back of my bed. was "vanessa" really not who i thought she was? we have been talking for so long, that she couldn't possibly be faking with how much she knows about shawn. heck, she knows more things about shawn than even i know! it's almost like she knows him personally or something. shawn is all we ever talk about, and she never runs out of things to say about him. never.

i mean, so many teenagers out there have internet friends and they are real, i know it. they meet all the time, they fly to see each other. but then, vanessa hasn't sent me any pictures of what she looks like and doesn't post any on her twitter or instagram. that is kind of weird...

after all that thinking, i had no idea what to think. was alena right? was i really wrong about vanessa?

my thoughts were interrupted by my mom's car pulling up in the driveway. i went downstairs to greet my mom.

"hey mom, how was your getaway?" i asked her, while reaching for a bag of lay's potato chips.

"it was good, i had a lot of fun." she said. "how's alena? what did you guys do?" she asked me.

"she's good, we just went swimming and we watched like way too many episodes of criminal minds..." i laughed. so did my mom.

"well, i'm going to go home," alena said, waving goodbye to my mom and i and then walking out the front door and walking to her house.

"is she okay? she seems mad." my mom pointed out.

"i have no idea..." i said, lying straight to my mother's face.

i do have an exact idea why alena's mad. i may be best friends with anybody at this point, and i have absolutely no way of knowing.
