Amelia~His Inspiration

"Babe," I shuffled before moving myself away from the deep voice. "Mel, babe get up." I opened my eyes to meet a pair of blue eyes.

"Xavier, what do you want?" I asked. I had a rough night at the bar and I didn't want to deal with his bull crap. "I only just got in," I groaned as he began to trail his rough fingers by my foot.

"I have to go again, Max is dropping the boys at noon. Can you watch them until I get back tomorrow morning? Please." I nodded and glanced at the clock. 4:38.I only got home, an hour and a half ago. His hand caressed my cheek and
I couldn't help but lean into his warmth. "My flight leaves at six, I'll be back soon. Skype me after dinner." I nodded at his request and gave him a peck on the lips.

An hour later, I was still in bed and only then did I notice that his flight left in less than an hour. I shifted so I was facing his spot.He was gone. A note along with a pink rose sat in his place. It read:

Dear Beautiful,

I'm sorry I left while you were asleep but I didn't want to wake you. I'll see you tomorrow.

With Love,
Xav

I smiled at the note and fell asleep once again.

When I woke up again, it was to a banging on the front door. I glanced at the clock to see it was only a few minutes before eleven. Why can't I have some damn sleep! I quickly threw on a robe over my shorts and tank top. Sleepily sliding to the front door and turned the alarm off. Before I could answer the door, another rapid series of knocks echoed throughout the house.

I swung the door open to see Maxine. At twenty five years, she stood with confidence. Despite delivering two children, she looked flawless. Her blue eyes stared into my boring brown ones. "What took you so long?" Shoving herself inside, her two handsome boys following with a smile and wave. They both had taken after their father with their dark brown hair that occasionally looked black, his sharp nose and pink lips. Alex had his father's bright blue eyes while Noah had his mother's hazel eyes.

"I was sleeping. I was told you were dropping them off at noon, what changed?" I asked, I wasn't beating around the bush. When she didn't answer, I moved my attention to the two boys who kept yawning. "Alex, Noah, do you guys want some breakfast or do you guys want to go back to sleep for a little bit more?" I smiled at the boys who were passing yawns to one another.

"Can we go to bed, Mel?" They asked in unison. I nodded and smiled when they lugged themselves to their room in the house. I had redecorated when I moved in a month ago. It had looked like a prison. Gray walls, two twin beds with a plain bread spread. So I had decided to decorate seeing as Alex and Noah were smart and good kids, they deserved a room that was less like a prison and more like a child's room.

Once I heard the door open, I turned to their mother who was scanning through my magazines.Wedding magazines. I had ordered them months ago for my best friend's wedding which was last week. "He proposed," she asked. Before I could say oppose she continued, "He proposed to me once, married me. We were in love until I had Alex, then one day he wanted a divorce." She paused as she touched her mouth briefly. "Anyways, I came here to talk to you because I want things to be clear with you and I. " I nodded and made my way to the kitchen with her following me. She sat at the bar as I started the coffee. "Alex and Noah are not your kids and you are not their mother. Clear?"

I turned around so I was looking her in the eye, "Are you done, Maxine?" I asked her and she looked at me in shock.

After a few seconds, she composed herself and looked at me, "No I'm not done. Taking the kids to see your parents isn't appropriate." She continued to babbled on about the same topic as I began to make chocolate chip pancakes. I ignored her until I heard the words, "His bitch." I turned the stove off and turned around and looked her into her eyes.

"Listen, don't come into this house and start ranting about your crap. I'm not trying to be their mother but trying to be a mother. I get that your their mother but if you want me to be the mean step-mom, it's not going to happen. If you have a problem with me possibly marrying your ex, then don't talk to me talk to your baby daddy." She opened her mouth in shock, for the past month I had listened to her constant nagging without complaint. "And a reminder, your kids will repeat whatever they hear, and if you didn't understand stop the cursing. Now get out unless you want to take your kids to the your boyfriend's house." I raised an eyebrow at her. She picked up her purse and opened her mouth to say something but closed it and left the house slamming the door in the process.Bitch.

"Mel?" I heard Alex's voice murmur in the hallway. I continued coking the last pancake as I waited for Alex to step into the kitchen. It wasn't long until he came in with a grey long sleeve and jeans. "I'm hungry. Where's dad?" He asked when his eyes met the stack of pancakes. I had put strawberries and whipped cream on top of it.

I placed a plate with two pancakes along with orange juice in front of him. "Eat up, I want to take you guys to the park and then to the mall." He nodded at me but I knew he didn't hear a word I said. "I'll be back, going to take a shower." He looked up at me with a mouthful of food. "Don't talk, just eat. Don't share any food for your brother if he gets up before I get out of the shower, okay?"

"Okay, Mel." He said once he swallowed his food.

I smiled as I watched Alex and Noah talk to their father who was in Georgia. As I watched them talk, memories of skyping with my father when he was in the military. Every Wednesday I had watched my mother cry as she made my father promise to be safe. He always promised her and every ten months he came back. He always did, now they both live on the country side with their horses and dogs. God, how I miss them.

"Mel! Dad wants to talk to you." I put the last dish in the dish washer. "Hurry up, he says he'll hang up if you don't!" I smiled at his lie and walked to the living room where they were sitting on the leather couch.

I grabbed my laptop from the boy's hands which had pieces of chocolate cake and ice cream on their fingers."Wash your hand and get ready for a shower," I ordered. Once they went down the hallway, I finally looked at Xav. "Hey, what you up to?" His blue eyes shined brightly as he explained he had been the his second favorite photo shoot. He wouldn't tell me who was the first, and I didn't push although I wanted to know who beat his idol- Zander Sheffield.

"I'll call you later, I have to bath the little ones. Bye." I said as I closed the laptop before anything else slipped though my lips, I had almost declared my love for the man I've been dating for a year over video chat. That wood be awful.

After bathing Noah and supervising Alex, I read them both a book and tucked them in their bed. I kissed their forehead then left the room, leaving a small gap so I could hear if anything happened in their room.

I was drinking a cup of tea when my phone rang and I picked it up thinking it was Xavier. "Hello."

"Hey sis, how are you?" I rolled my eyes at his voice. He had news, and I doubt it was good.

"If you need bail money, don't bother buttering me up. The answer will be no." He had already asked for bail money three times this year, it was only March. Mom and dad had always wanted a perfect son; sporty, outgoing,e. He rebelled and became "Bad Boy Don,"

"I promised last time I would stay clean, and I am. In fact my fiance helped me get clean." I almost spit my drink out at the word fiance. "I know your going down to the farm, you mind if we come. Mom said yes but she wants to make sure your okay with it."

"I am, just don't tell me that you met her in jail." I pleaded as I walked towards the bedroom . "And if she's a drug dealer, I'm not coming to the wedding."

There was a pause on the phone. Then I heard a chuckle. "Far from it, she's a cop. You should see what she can do with-"

"If you finish that sentence, I will reach into this phone and slap you, got it?" I demanded. I didn't want to hear of my brother's activities in the bedroom. "I going to go, congrats. Talk to you on Saturday." Without listening for his response, I hung up.

Note|Thus book is very much inspired by a book I've read recently. Although inspired, it is not the same.❤️
P.S. I know it sucks😀
