That day the sky was cloudy and grey, a lot of lazy clouds covered it completely, making a melancholic and gloomy atmosphere. A severe and intense wind was blowing, messing up the hair of (y/n) and throwing them directly on her face; she could sense the cold deeply in her bones even if she was wearing a heavy warm coat and a wool scarf. She panted slightly, drawing a little cloud with her breath, just before putting the scarf on her nose and kept walking.
She has always enjoyed walking, it was a good way to put in order her chaotic thoughts that were intruding her mind.
Even though she didn’t want to admit to herself, loneliness was very painful and heavy to bear with: she didn’t have anyone to vent to when she wasn’t feeling well, nobody who asked her if everything was good, none to chat about the day, no one who laugh with and share special and memorable moments together.
She was surrounded by emptiness and this was happening as long as she could remember. She usually watched the other children making friends easily and playing all together, but when she decided to play with them everyone suddenly left with a banal excuse
She couldn’t explain their behavior then, and maybe she wouldn’t ever be able to.
The only ones who have never abandoned her by their will were her parents…. But by chance another person took them away from her.
A fatal incident involved both her parents and that person. She sighed deeply once again.
A lot of years have passed and yet she could remember that emotion very well, strong and vivid as ever.
She wasn’t left completely alone, there was grandad that took care of her, instead her grandma died before her birth. She couldn’t know her, but everyone who did it said she was a very special person.
Yeah, it could definitely be like this. Only a special person could have married her grandad.
After an endless time waiting, finally she could cross the crosswalks, paying attention to eventual cars. That terrible memory made her pay particular attention when it came to moving around the city streets crossed by endlessly comings and goings of full-speed cars.
She didn’t have a specific path in her mind.
The more she thought, the more she walked, completely absorbed in those familiar surroundings.
She didn’t even know at what time she would have come back home.
She put her hands in the pockets of the coat after keeping them out for too long in the cold, cursing herself because she had forgotten to put on her gloves before leaving. She hates doing it, but she didn’t have any choice.
‘useless’
whispers of malevolent voices in her ears,
‘asocial’
Mocking words,
‘you are too weird, nobody wants you around’.
Words that hurts deeply,
‘You’re alone, you’re unable to do anything’
Rumours that may state realty,
‘Why don’t you have friends? It’s not that difficult’
Voices of people met…
‘Such a loser’
.. and never saw again.
Pain didn’t mitigate with time, it was only well covered and hidden. She didn’t express no more her feelings in front of others, she simply let them decay inside her heart until they blew up on the surface; then they were locked and the loop started again.
It was the only method she had known in her life to survive and not have any kind of problem, or at least that has always worked, so there wasn’t any reason to stop.
She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn’t realize she arrived in an unknown park. It was… kinda good, new playground, well-kept garden, in short that was a wonderful place. There were sparks of joy and children were everywhere: they sat on the swing, used slides and ran in the field despite the rigid temperature.
She found an empty bench so she could rest a moment, and relax her legs, after that long walking. She liked walking fast, her steps were constant and quick.
In the distance she saw a little boy playing by himself and he reminded herself when she was young. He turned to her, staring into her eyes for a few seconds before taking his things and leaving, summoned by her parents nearby.
She relaxed her head back, running a hand through her hair
From that position she could admire the sky which was beautiful even when it was cloudy.
She was lost in contemplation of its gray shades until a rumble of a stomach roused her from her state of hypnosis. It was hers.
She lowered her gaze and lingered on the figure of a boy in the distance. He was tall, thin and wore dark clothes. His hood was pulled up and cast a shadow over his face, preventing her from seeing him.
“What a strange fellow”, she thought.
Another growl made her stand up and therefore she decided to walk back home.
However, that boy had left her a strange feeling. As if she had seen him somewhere before.
