Hayden POV
We were all looking up at the beanstalk.
Looking up at the Beanstalk
"It's a little freakier than I remember from the story." Mom says
"Reminds me of death." Mulan says
"Encouraging." Grandma says
"I think it's cool." I say standing next too hook
" Well, your compass awaits. Shall we?" Hook says
" Wait. If these Beans ...create...portals, why not just pick one and go home? Why the compass?" Mom asks
" Because there aren't any more beans. Whatever story you think you know, my dear, is most certainly wrong." Hook says
"There was a guy named Jack and a cow and something about an evil giant with a treasure and a golden goose. Or harp." Mom says
"I thought it was an golden egg?" I asked
Mom just shrugs
" Sounds like a lovely tale, but the truth's a little bit more gruesome. The giants grew the beans, but rather than use them for good, they used them to plunder all the lands. Jack was a man who fought a terrible war, defeating all but one of the evil giants. The beans were destroyed by the giants as they died. If they couldn't have their magic, then nobody could. It's really very bad form." Hook says
" Evil giants who made magic portal beans? Why doesn't anyone just go up and grow some more?" Mom says
"Because there is still one up there Right?" I say
Everyone looks at me
"What I listen." I say with a smile
"The young lass is right. one giant survived... the strongest and most terrible of them all. And we'll have to get past him to..." Hook says
"The magic compass." Grandma says
" Indeed. The treasure remains, and amongst it is the compass. Now it will guide us to your land.Cora has the means to open a portal with the wardrobe ashes, but she can't find your land without the compass. Once we get it, steal the ashes from her, and we're on our way." Hook says
" How do we know you're not just using us to get the compass for Cora?" Mulan asked
"Because you five are far safer company.Beside the small lass is growing on me." He smiles down at me I smile back
"Besides All I need is a ride back. I'll swear allegiance to whomever gets me there first." Hook says
"Then we'd better start climbing." Mom says
" Right. So...I failed to mention that the giant enchanted the beanstalk to repel intruders." Hook says
" All right, so how do we get up there?" Mom asks
"I've got a counter from Cora, if you'd be so kind." Hook says showing his hands
Grandma frees his hands
"Thank you, milady." Hook winks at her
He removes the rags he had over his original clothes
"I've got one more of these. Cora was to accompany me. So... which one of you four lovelies shall take her place? Hmm? Go on. Fight it out. Don't be afraid to, you know, really get into it." He says showing the bracelet
"I'll go!" I say raising my hand
"No!" All the women yell at me
"Party poopers." I mumbled
I am standing next too hook.
"My money is on my mom." I say looking up at him
He chuckled
"Your on lass." He says
" All due respect, I'm the best-equipped to go. How many wars have you been through?" Mulan says
Me and Hook watch as they argue on who is going.
"My share." Grandma says
" It should be me." Aurora says
" You? You haven't fought in a battle." Mulan argues
"This is about us getting home to our loved ones. Why would you..." Grandma says
" Because I have no loved ones. If I fail, you can still go on." Aurora says
" It's me. I'm going, and I'm not gonna fail." Mom says
" You're new here." Grandma says
" It's about getting back to Henry . I don't care what I have to face. You're not gonna argue with me?" Mom says
"Would it do any good?" Grandma asks
" No. Anything in that bag that's gonna help me with a giant?" Mom asked Mulan
" Or Hook?" Mulan says
" Hey." Hook says offended
"Checkmate." I say acting like my finger was a gun
"Alright lass you bested me what would you like?" He asked
"How about you just owe me a favor?" I ask
"Sounds fair." He says smiling down at me
" Ladies. In this world, we are slaves to time. And ours is running out. In other words, tick-tock." Hook says
Mom approaches Hook and puts out her hand
"I was hoping it'd be you." He says
" Just get on with it." Mom says
Hook puts her hand on his shoulder
"Put your hand right here. That's a good girl. " Hook says I giggle
Hook smiles puts the magical bracelet on her
"This will allow you to climb. There are other dangers. Thankfully, you've got me to protect you." Hook says
He points to his hand
"I can't climb one-handed, can I?" He says
Mom hands him his hook
" Don't think I'm taking my eyes off you for a second." Mom says
"I would despair if you did." He says smirking
"Let's go." Mom says
Me, Grandma, Mulan and Aurora watch as they start climbing.
Mulan is drawing a circle in the ground and puts the large stick in the middle.
"What is that?" Aurora says
" Keeps the time." Mulan says
" You have somewhere to be?" Grandma says
" We can mark watches, take turns sleeping. We'll most likely have to walk through the night again, so we should rest while we can." Mulan says
" I'll take first shift." Grandma says
" I'll stay up with you." Aurora says
" Okay." Mulan walks off
I follow her.
"Mulan wait." I say
She stops.
"Please, Please can you teach me?" I ask her looking up at her.
