'The irony of the good old days' - Chapter 3

|The Slowest Sting|

"Something wrong?"

It had been about two days since you and Sadie agreed to start 'dating' and to say you were playing into your role would be an understatement.

Sadie walked out of her room, having hardly woken up and not done her hair, this was because she smelled something in the kitchen.

She saw you standing there in one of those cheesy 'Kiss the cook' aprons while trying to make pancakes.

"Morning honey" You smiled at her in an overexaggerated way.

Sadie only groaned, which you supposed would be the nicest thing she'd do to you all day, she really had no idea why you agreed to this in the first place.

"When are we going round your parent's again?" You asked.

"Saturday" She mumbled.

"Excellent, I'm quite the charmer, they'll be wishing we were actually a couple in no time" You smirked.

You placed the pancakes down in front of her and she hummed a tired thanks as she began to stuff her face.

"Did you hand in your...our paper?" You teased her.

She knew she couldn't combat that comment, and she did think that calling the paper a collaborative effort was overselling it, you did basically all of it.

"Yeah, we get it back today" She said.

"But you gave it in yesterday?" You said in disbelief. "How does Ms Calle have that much free time?"

"She doesn't, she's got that new teacher helping her" Sadie commented.

"Ooh gossip" You put both your hands on your chin and looked at her. "Gimme deets"

"I don't...I don't know it all...just that there's a new teacher and they spend like...every lunch together" She stuttered.

"Aw...so happy someone so old can find love" You commented.

"She's only like 28?" Sadie coughed a bit. "How old is old for you?"

"I don't know...and believe me I sometimes like them a little older you know...but I'm not much of a future person" You shrugged.

"Well...what do you think you'll be doing by 30?" Sadie asked.

"I don't know..." You thought. "Dying of old age probably"

And then Sadie did something she never thought she'd do, something she'd spent her whole time with you trying not to do.

She laughed.

Your eyes practically lit up at this, as you nearly fell off your chair, looking to her with an admitting slight blush.

"Did Ms Sadie Sink just laugh at one of my jokes?" You smiled.

"I'm wishing I hadn't" She scoffed.

"Nope, cant take it back now, I win" You cheered.

Together, the two of you devolved into silence, which was something Sadie was unaware you could do, until you got an idea.

"Are you doing anything today?" You asked her.

"Classes until 2 remember?" Sadie said, as you both shared a class.

"Oh yeah...gosh, where would I be without you, that's why we make such a good couple" You smiled at her.
