It wasn't easy to escape Lonnie's ignorant words and worries. He constantly surrounded Will's mind that he wasn't 'normal' in his eyes. That Will was just a- "Faggot, with no future ahead of him."

Even though Will still showed remorse to him, after all it was his dad. And after every argument they had about Will's relationship with Mike, it ended up with hateful words and a harsh slap to the face.

And somehow, Will always accepted Lonnie's shitty apologies. Will doesn't even need to visit Lonnie, considering the fact that he's currently 19, in college, and has a perfect relationship with everyone else, excluding his dad.

But, somewhere deep in Will's heart couldn't accept the fact that his father was an asshole who drank every morning to night and got high nearly everyday.

Even on plane rides to visit Lonnie's house, Will was hesitant, but he truly wanted a connection with Lonnie. Even the day he officially left Joyce when Will was 7, never visited Will on his birthday, never sent him letters, basically never there, Will was desperate to have a father. Which is why he wants to try to connect with his shitty father.

Mike hated the idea of Will visiting his dad once or twice a year. In fact, he hated everything about Lonnie. A new girlfriend every month, a new child he doesn't take care of, and another drink after drink.

Mike wanted to confront Will that they shouldn't visit him anymore, considering the abuse Will was taking could end up being more violent. Mike just felt sympathetic for Will. He loved Will and didn't want to admit the fact that Will shouldn't visit Lonnie. Mike felt bad and hated seeing Will's miserable face after Mike tried to convince him not to continue visiting Lonnie.

But Mike always gave in with the idea, even if he despised it.

Lonnie didn't really talk to Mike. He just gave him some stares and had weird expressions on his face, that was all. But Will took more abuse. Constantly getting yelled at, made fun of, and being slapped around like a toy. Mike didn't even know that this happened until last year when he woke up to hearing them yelling at each other.

Mike was tempted to punch Lonnie right in his stupid face, but Will held him back every time, saying he'd be disappointed in Mike if he hit his father.

Mike didn't like having Will mad at him, but he knew someday it'd get on his nerves even more.

Joyce tried convincing Will too, telling him to not go to Lonnie's house. But Will couldn't help it. He just wanted two parents.

Will never even told Lonnie he was gay, Lonnie caught it himself one day. Three years ago, when they visited, Lonnie caught them making out in the guest bedroom. With a major argument, Will forcefully pushed Mike away from those types of 'talks.'

He was embarrassed that he couldn't stand up for himself. He didn't wanna look pathetic to Mike.

The last time they visited, which was only a couple months ago, things escalated.

Lonnie ended up throwing random shit from the house to Will while calling him, "A Faggot!"

Which just ended up with Lonnie having black-and-blue-eye, a bloody nose, and a pain in his jaw from Mike.

And from that day, Mike told Will that they could no longer continue to visit Will, he told Will that it wasn't healthy for him to keep going to someone who clearly didn't want him. It just ended up with Will crying in his arms and gaining comfort.

But as the months go by, Will's face is left in shock as he hears something he'd never thought he would hear in a while.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, Will... But Lonnie's dead."
