THE FORGOTTEN

In the realm of choice, I remain unseen,

A shadowed figure, forgotten in between.

Never the winner, never the one,

Always an option, easily undone.

I am the last resort, the afterthought,

Dismissed and disregarded, my worth is truly fraught.

In a sea of possibilities, I am adrift,

Lost in the currents, my spirit now stiff.

My heart aches, yearning to be selected,

To feel valued, appreciated, and connected.

But destiny's game seems far from fair,

Leaving me in the shadows of despair.

I watch as others dance in the spotlight's gleam,

While I linger in the shadows, a forgotten theme.

My dreams fade, my hopes retreat,

As I become accustomed to this bitter defeat.

But through this pain, a fire starts to burn,

A quiet resilience, a desire to learn.

I refuse to accept this role I've been cast,

To be forever the option that's always surpassed.

For in the depths of my being, I find strength,

A resolve that illuminates, its power immense.

I am more than a fallback, a mere consolation,

I am worthy of love, celebration, and admiration.

I will rise from the ashes, like a phoenix reborn,

Embrace my worth, no longer forlorn.

With each setback, I shall grow stronger still,

Defying the odds, breaking free of the chill.

Though I may never be the first choice desired,

I'll forge my own path with courage untired.

Being an option does not define my worth,

I'll prove my mettle, create my own mirth.

So let me break free from this self-imposed chain,

No longer reluctant, no longer in pain.

I am more than a setback, more than a last resort,

I am a force of resilience, ready to cavort.

For within the depths of rejection's harsh sting,

A phoenix emerges, ready to spread its wings.

And one day, I'll soar high above the rest,

No longer defined by being the forgotten guest.
