Chapter 6 amid the ruins part 1

Sarita: I'm bit!
Sarita:Oh, god!
Sarita: Clementine, it bit me.
Sarita:I'm dead.
Clem: You're not dead yet.
Clem:We'll figure something out.
Clem:We have to get out of here!
Kenny: Oh, god!
Kenny: Sarita!
Kenny,Mike,and Ben run over to Clem and Sarita.
Mike: Oh, shit.
Ben: She's.
Kenny:She's gonna be okay!
Kenny:You're gonna be okay.
Kenny:Come on!
Kenny:We have to move!
Kenny:We have to!
Mike,Kenny,Clem,Ben,and Sarita run through the herd. Clem gets separated from them.
Clem chops off the walker's arm.
The walker nearly grabs Clem but narrowly misses.
Clem dodges past the walker as it moves toward her.
Luke: I'm goin' after sarah!
Clem: Luke!
Luke and Nick run off, Nick gets shot in the shoulder.
Clem: Kenny?
Clem dodges a walker and prepares to kill another one.
Clem axes the zombie in the face.
A soldier shoots the zombie in the face.
The zombie falls on top of Clem. She pushes its corpse away and rubs some of its guts on herself, continuing through the herd unnoticed.
Clem says nothing.
A person grabs Clem, who struggles, not realizing who it is.
Rebecca: Stop.
Rebecca releases Clem and they crouch behind a table and some rocks.
Rebecca: Thank god.
Clem:I can't find anybody.
Rebecca: I know.
Rebecca:What do we do?
Rebecca: Luke was with me, but I can't do this alone.
Clem:We're still covered in walker guts.
Rebecca: Look.
Rebecca:The walkers are still moving toward the hardware store.
Rebecca:We can make it out if we stick together.
Rebecca groans in pain.
Rebecca:I'm glad you're here.
Rebecca:We can watch each other's backs.
Clem:It's going to be okay.
Clem:We're gonna make it.
Rebecca: Okay.
Rebecca:We need a clear path to the trees.
Rebecca:Maybe they're thinning out somewhere.
Rebecca:Do you see any openings?
Rebecca: Anything?
Clem notices an escape route.
Clem: There!
Rebecca and Clem start to walk through but get surrounded by walkers.
Rebecca: Damn it!
Rebecca:Go back, go back.
Clem turns around and bumps into Jane and Doug.
Clem: Jane!
Rebecca: Doug!
Rebecca:Thank god.
Jane: Stop.
Jane: Relax.
Jane:You need to walk slowly.
Jane:You'll be fine.
Rebecca:I can't do this.
Doug:Either you help them or you leave.
Jane:We can't clump together like this. Jane:It's better if we spread out.
Jane:These two will be fine.
Doug:No, you don't understand.
Rebecca:Just help us.
Clem:We should all stay together.
Doug:Isn't that safer?
Jane:Exactly the opposite.
Jane continues moving through the herd but returns to the others when she notices Rebecca's distress.
Jane: Damn it.
Jane:We'll have to push through that cluster of walkers.
Rebecca: There's too many.
Jane:We'll make a cow-catcher.
Jane:Just we need.
Clem: A what?
Jane: You'll see.
Doug:How exciting.
Jane: There.
Jane points to walker.
Jane:That one looks light enough to carry.
Jane:I'm gonna get on the far side of her.
Jane:I need you to get her attention.
Jane and Doug approach the walker from opposite sides.
Doug pokes the walker, and it turns toward him.
Jane grabs the walker's arm and removes its jaw with her knife.
Jane:Not gonna bite anybody now, are ya?
Jane:Follow me.
Jane:Stay close.
Jane:If you fall behind, I can't come back for you.
Jane leads the other three, holding the walker in front of her.
The four of them walk through the herd. When they reach the end, Jane throws down the walker and stabs it in the head.
Jane: Let's go.
It's now morning, and Jane,Clem, Rebecca,and Doug walk through the forest, the walker guts no longer covering them. Rebecca lags behind.
Clem:Is everything alright?
Rebecca: No.
Rebecca:I'm not alright.
Rebecca:But I'll be a lot better once we get with the others.
Rebecca:I need to make sure everyone else made it out.
Rebecca: Luke,sarah,kenny, shawn,lee,ben,and otis.
Rebecca:Goddamn it, what if they aren't there?
Jane:If they aren't, nothing we can do about it.
Rebecca:Don't even say things like that!
Jane: Fine!
Jane: Sorry.
Rebecca:Jesus, I don't even know if we're safe.
Doug:What if the herd is still following us?
Jane: We're fine.
Rebecca:It's been quiet, but who knows.
Doug:We gotta keep going.
Clem:Don't worry, we're okay.
Clem:We'll meet up with everyone soon.
Clem:We'll at least be safe, I guess.
Jane:We need to keep up at a good pace.
Rebecca:I know, I know.
Rebecca:Just, I'm going as fast as I can.
Rebecca:I know I should feel glad that we escaped, but I just can't stop thinking about the others.
Rebecca:How could I leave alvin behind?
Rebecca: It was stupid.
Jane: What was?
Jane: Escaping?
Rebecca:Look, I know we all agreed to use the herd to get out, but maybe we should've been more patient.
Rebecca:Come up with something better.
Jane: It worked!
Rebecca:If you can call that working! Rebecca:We could have, I don't know.
Doug:Maybe we should have done something else.
Jane:I'm just saying that if people hadn't panicked, things might've turned out better.
Rebecca: Of course!
Rebecca:We panicked!
Rebecca:We were scared!
Jane:The plan was good!
Jane:The execution was the messy part.
Doug:That sounds an awful lot like you're saying, it was their fault.
Jane: What?
Jane: No!
Jane:No, that's not what I'm saying. Jane: Just.
Rebecca groans and grabs her stomach.
Rebecca:I have to stop.
Rebecca:I'm sorry.
Rebecca:I don't want to slow us down. Rebecca:Can I just have a minute?
Jane:Uh, yeah.
Doug:Take a minute.
Rebecca: Thank you.
Rebecca: Alvin was supposed to be here for this.
Jane: Is alvin.
Rebecca:He's dead is what he is. Rebecca:Thanks to that fucking madman back there.
Clem: Kenny might know what to do. Doug:He had a family.
Jane:Let's hope he made it to the meetup point, then.
Jane:What are you going to do with it?
Rebecca:What do you mean by that?
Doug:Yeah, what do you mean by that?
Jane: Uh, sorry.
Jane:Just making conversation.
Jane:It was nothing.
Rebecca: No.
Rebecca:What do you mean by that? Rebecca:Do with what?
Rebecca:My baby?
Jane:I'm just looking at the worst-case scenario.
Jane:You,doug,and clem won't be able to raise a baby by yourselves.
Jane:Not out here.
Jane:I just mean, it's going to need food.
Jane:And, y'know, other stuff.
Clem: Guys.
Clem:That baby is coming, like it or not.
Jane: Fine.
Jane:And then what?
Jane:It's going to be helpless, and you can't protect it!
Rebecca:And you assume I won't be capable enough.
Doug:Just because you're some angry loner who doesn't care about anyone but herself doesn't mean you know better than her.
Jane:Hey, I've seen it before.
Jane:Back when it started, me and my sister, we were.
Rebecca:What, she died?
Rebecca:I don't need your pity!
Jane: You don't.
Jane:You don't have the right.
Jane walks away.
Clem: Jane!
Rebecca: Shit, I didn't mean.
Rebecca: Shit.
Doug: Let's follow her, guys.
Rebecca: Damn it.
Clem,Jane,Rebecca,and Doug reach the meetup spot. Mike,Bonnie,Lee, Shawn,Ben,and Otis are standing out front.
Mike:We can't just sit here doing nothing.
Bonnie:I know, I know.
Shawn:They'll be here soon.
Bonnie,Mike,Lee,Shawn,Ben,and Otis notice them approaching.
Otis: Holy shit.
Bonnie:It had been so long.
Lee:We were starting to worry no one else would make it.
Mike: Well, besides.
Mike looks back at Kenny, who is sitting on the edge of a fountain. Sarita rests her head in his lap, looking sickly.
Clem: How's sarita?
Shawn:She's going to turn at any moment.
Lee:This memorial works fine as a meeting spot, but no way we can stay here long-term.
Bonnie:I told you, that's why we're waitin'.
Bonnie:And as soon as everyone else gets here, we'll figure something out.
Rebecca:You wanted to leave without us?
Lee: What?
Lee: No.
Lee:I wanted to go out and try to find everyone.
Clem:What does kenny wanna do?
Mike:I tried to talk to kenny, and he flipped out on me.
Mike:Started yelling.
Mike:Scary shit.
Bonnie:I know he probably didn't mean it.
Bonnie:But it was scary.
Otis: It's normal for him.
Mike:Do you think he'll, I dunno, snap out of it?
Otis: Eventually.
Mike:I hate to say it, but Shawn's right about sarita.
Jane: Is, uh.
Jane:Is he gonna take care of her?
Ben: Jane!
Jane:I know it's not pretty, but it's better than the alternative.
Ben: It's not our decision to make!
Mike:But it's the one that's gotta be made.
Mike:We're already up the creek enough without a walker to worry about.
Clem:This isn't the first time kenny's seen someone get bit.
Jane:How'd it go last time?
Otis:His wife killed herself, and lee had to kill his son.
Jane: Oh.
Lee:Just let me talk to him first.
Jane:All I'm saying is the offer's there. If he wants it.
Lee walks up to Kenny.
Kenny:It's alright, sarita.
Kenny:It's gonna be okay.
Kenny:I'm gonna be here with you. Kenny:Right 'til the end.
Kenny: It doesn't matter what shawn says.
Lee: Hey, kenny.
Kenny:You think I don't know what y'all are whispering about over there?
The rest of the group walks past them in the background. Rebecca leans on Bonnie for support and holds her stomach.
Kenny:I said we just wanted a little fucking time alone to say goodbye.
Sarita groans.
Kenny:Shh, shh, shh.
Kenny:It's okay, babe.
Kenny: It's okay.
Kenny:We're gonna get through this. Kenny:We're gonna do what we gotta do.
Kenny:Gotta play the shit hand that this shit world dealt us.
Lee:We're just worried about you.
Kenny:I'm sorry that sarita dying has got your heads all worried.
Lee:We need your help to figure out a plan.
Kenny:Grow the fuck up and look around you, lee!
Kenny:Take a look at how our last plan worked out!
Kenny:There ain't some boat, or some train, or some other bullshit outta this one!
Kenny:Don't you think your kid already done enough for today?
Kenny: Just leave us alone.
Lee: It's okay to ask for help.
Kenny:I can do this myself.
Lee: Clem tried to save her.
Kenny: Look at her.
Kenny:She is going to die.
Kenny:Because of clem.
Kenny:You think because you have a little girl, you can just get people killed, and no one will care?!
Kenny:That because your kid said "sorry", it'll all magically go away?!Kenny:That's not how it works!
Lee: Everyone's scared.
Kenny: Enough, lee.
Kenny:I've had enough of this bullshit.
Kenny:Now, for the last time, just leave us alone to say goodbye.
Lee walks over to the rest of the group. Rebecca and Jane sit on the benches.
Mike:I'm going crazy just sitting here not doing anything.
Bonnie:Just give it time, mike.
Ben:It's still early.
Clem: Lee, how'd it go?
Lee: Kenny's pissed at me and clem.
Rebecca: Lee, you can't just expect him to bounce back.
Rebecca:What that man's going through.
Mike:Still, doesn't exactly help us figure out what we're gonna do now. Shawn:We've got no food, no water, it's getting damn cold, and we're losing daylight fast.
Bonnie:When the others get back, they'll know what to do.
Bonnie: Luke will have a plan.
Mike:We thought kenny would have a plan.
Rebecca: Mike, bonnie.
Jane: Mike's got a point.
Jane:You can't just keep sitting around waiting.
Jane:Things are difficult enough right now, and soon you'll have a baby on your hands, too.
Doug:What, suddenly you're pretending to be concerned?
Jane:Seeing you people floundering the minute things don't go according to plan has just got me on edge, alright?
Shawn:Well, I don't exactly see you stepping up to help right now, either.
Clem:We should go find luke,sarah, and nick.
Clem:If they're in trouble, we might be able to help them.
Rebecca: Clementine's right.
Rebecca:After everything, after all this.
Lee:If there's any chance they're still alive, we need to take it.
Jane: I'll go.
Jane: Clem can come with me.
Doug:I'll go with you.
Jane:You don't have to.
Doug:Just gonna make sure everyone makes it.
Lee: Jane.
Jane: Yeah?
Lee:If clem and doug die, I'll kill you.
Lee: Got it.
Jane: Got it.
Jane:If they're alive, they can't be far. Doug:We can find them.
Rebecca:Thank you.
Jane: Listen.
Jane: Rebecca.
Jane:If anything goes wrong here.
Jane:You got something to protect yourself?
Rebecca draws her pistol.
Rebecca:I've got this.
Rebecca:You don't think I'd need to?
Jane: I don't know.
Jane:But you better keep that close. Jane:Come on, clem and doug.
Jane,Clem,and Doug leave.
Jane:Look, I'm gonna level with you guys.
Jane:I was just looking for an excuse to get outta there for a bit.
Jane: And.
Doug: And, what?
Jane:There's no real point in scouting ahead.
Jane: And.
Jane:You should know that finding your friends that's a shot in the dark.
Clem:I don't know about that.
Clem:We shouldn't give up before we've even looked.
Jane: Okay, but.
Jane:I wanted to talk to you, away from them.
Jane: Including you, doug.
Jane:You guys wouldn't have made it this far if you weren't smart, but I still.
Jane:I just gotta warn you guys.
Jane:That group is cracking.
Jane:I've seen it before.
Jane:And, well, a lotta times, it's better to be on your own.
Clem:These are good people.
Doug:We help each other.
Clem:We can't leave that.
Jane:You'd guys be surprised.
Jane:How much help is kenny gonna be?
Jane:What he's going through, he's more of a liability than anything.
Jane:And rebecca's "situation" is not making things better back there.
Jane:You get enough broken people together.
Jane:And all you're gonna get are broken decisions.
Doug:Look, jane, if you don't like us, just leave.
Jane:If you don't like me, just leave.
They reach an abandoned car, and Jane begins searching it.
Jane:For what it's worth, I like most of the people in your crew, but groups fall apart.
Jane:People get killed.
Doug: No shit.
Clem:Then why did you bring me with you?
Jane:I'm just trying to give you the tools you need to make it.
Jane:Like your jacket, it looks warm, but a walker will bite right through that.
Jane:My sister jaime had a good leather one wish I still had it.
Doug:So rebecaa was right about your sister.
Jane: Yep.
Jane:You know, being a big sister is well, it's funny.
Jane:It's really easy to be mean.
Doug: Oh?
Jane:You know, hide her toys.
Jane:Make fun of her bad haircut. Jane:Give her the bad haircut.
Jane:On purpose.
Jane:I mean, I did put the gum there. I figured I should get it out.
Jane:I don't even know why.
Clem: Whoa, you really were mean.
Jane:What could I do?
Jane:She thought I was her best friend.
Jane:That couldn't go unpunished. Jane:Every summer, we'd go to this amusement park in Virginia.
Jane:But the best part wasn't the rides.
Jane:It was that nobody knew us there, and I'd pretend we weren't sisters.
Jane:Just friends.
Jane clears her throat and looks into the distance.
Jane: Alright!
Jane: Jackpot!
Jane,Clem,and Doug reach a mobile home park. Two walkers lie in front of the entrance.
Jane:Bet these walkers got some good stuff.
Jane stabs one of the walkers in the head with an awl.
Jane:That one's not coming back.
Jane:Let's see what else he's got.
Clem:Yeah, we should check them out.
Jane:But you know why, right?
Doug:Because they're fresh?
Jane: Yes.
Jane:Take a look.
Jane:Old walkers are a waste of time. Jane:They're holding credit cards and busted old pagers.
Jane:But these ones weren't walkers all that long ago.
Jane:They were survivors.
Jane:They might have useful stuff.
Jane stabs the other walker in the head.
Jane:See what else he's got.
Jane:I'll check this one.
Doug:And I'll check this one.
Jane searches the other walker.
Clem searches the walker's back left pocket and finds some bullets.
Doug checks the other walker.
Jane:Hold on to them.
Jane:Ammo's getting hard to come by, and things aren't going to get better.
Clem searches the walker's right back pocket and finds two driver's licenses.
Jane:Find anything?
Clem: Uh stuff.
Jane: Stuff?
Doug:Just stuff?
Jane:Well, you already sound like a teenager.
Clem searches the walker's jacket pocket and finds nothing.
Jane:Smart haircut.
Clem: Thanks.
Jane: So, has your crew always been so dysfunctional?
Jane:You fit in there.
Jane:But you aren't like them.
Clem:We're with a different group before.
Doug:That one worked better.
Clem:That was when I got my hair cut like this.
Clem: That's it.
Jane finds a nail file on the walker she was searching.
Jane: A nail file.
Jane:These things are great.
Jane:Sharpen a blade, strike a flint. Jane: Jaime always had one in her purse.
Jane:It'd jab my hand when I went reaching in.
Doug:I got some ammo and matches.
They come across another walker, and Jane stabs it in the head.
Jane:You can never be too sure with these things.
Jane:Here, gimme a hand.
Clem and Doug helps Jane roll the walker over and finds a pair of glasses beneath it. Clem puts them in her pocket.
Clem:These glasses, they're sarah's!
Jane:Looks like your friend didn't make it.
Jane: Sorry.
Clem:All we know is that she was here.
Doug:It could be a good sign.
Jane:Don't go getting your guys' hopes up.
Jane:Look, clem and doug.
Jane:I know what you guys want me to say, but.
Sarah: Get off!
Luke: Sarah, goddamn it!
Jane: Shit.
Jane:Okay, come on.
Jane:We gotta find a way in.
Jane:Looks like there's an opening over there.
They walk around the fence.
Jane:Look, we're gonna go do this, but it might not turn out the way you guys want it to.
Jane:Are you guys prepared for what you might find in there?
Doug: Yes.
Clem:If they're in there, they're in trouble.
Clem:And we can't wait until we're ready.
Jane: Okay, then.
Nick is caught in the fence.
Clem: Oh, no.
Doug:It's nick.
Jane:Look, he's your guys friend.
Jane: Doug, you should do this.
Clem: Goodbye.
Doug: Sorry, nick.
Doug pulls out his spanner and smashes his head in until he's dead.
Jane: It's alright.
Jane: It's done.
Jane:If it comes to it, if luke, or sarah, or anybody needs to be put down, you gotta be ready for it.
Jane:No hesitation.
Jane:You know that, right?
Clem: I know.
Jane pushes Nick's corpse off the fence. They go through the fence and hide behind some playground equipment. Walkers are wandering nearby. Sarah can be heard screaming and sobbing.
Luke: Okay, just calm down!
Doug:They don't sound too good. Jane:Clock's ticking.
Clem: I'm ready.
Doug: Me too.
Jane:I know you guys are.
Jane:We need to get a better look.
Luke:We are gonna die in here!
Jane peeks over the broken playground equipment.
Jane:How about you get the close one, and I'll hop the fence to get the other?
Jane:And doug get the other.
Jane:Go for it!
Sarah:Leave me alone!
Luke: Ow!
Clem runs up to the walker and hatchets it in the head. The hatchet gets stuck in his head, and she pulls it free.
Jane: Nice work.
Jane:You know what you're doing.
Jane:That hatchet of yours, it seems to get stuck pretty easily.
Jane:It's gonna get you killed.
Jane: Here.
Jane:Use this.
Jane gives Clem her awl.
Jane taps the back of her head.
Jane:Very effective.
Jane:We can do this.
Luke:What are you doin'?
Luke:Why are you doin' this?
Jane:Now watch this.
Jane:Got a nice little addition to your arsenal.
Jane hops over the fence and runs up to the other walker. She kicks one of its knees, making it collapse, and stabs it in the head. Clem and Doug runs over to her.
Jane:Take out the knees first.
Jane:Then put a knife in the back of its head when it's down.
Jane taps the back of her head.
Clem and Doug nod.
Jane: Alright.
Jane:Let's get a look at what we've got on deck.
Jane,Clem,and Doug look around the corner. Some walkers are trying to get past a barricade, and others have surrounded the door to a trailer.
Clem stabs a walker lying on the ground.
Jane:Glad you're paying attention.
Jane runs ahead to attack the walkers, and Clem and Doug follow her.
Jane: Wait.
Jane:We don't wanna make any noise until we've dealt with those guys.
Clem,Jane,and Doug decide to attack the walkers.
As Clem tries to move, the walker grabs her arm. Clem breaks free and stabs it in the head. The walkers begin to approach Clem, and Jane runs out to attack them.
Jane struggles against one of the walkers, while the other goes toward Clem. She kicks it in the knee and stabs it in the back of the head as Jane kills the other one, and Doug kills the other one.
Jane:You did the knee thing.
Jane:Nice trick, huh?
They look over the barricade at the walkers surrounding the trailer, where Sarah is heard sobbing inside.
Clem:That's a lot of walkers.
Clem:They look worked up about something.
Jane:And what gets the interest of the dead?
Doug: People.
Clem:How do we get in?
Jane:If we can make enough noise on this side, we can lure those walkers over here.
Jane:Then we might just be able to go through that other trailer, and get to your friends.
Jane:What do you think of that?
Clem:Let's make some noise.
Jane: Right.
Doug:Let's do this.
Jane:What's gonna grab their attention?
Jane:I got you guys covered.
Clem walks up to Doug, who is looking at the truck.
Clem: Hey.
Doug: Hey.
Clem:What are you thinking?
Doug:I know how I can make a lot of noise.
Clem: How?
Doug picks up the walker's arm.
Jane:Need some help?
Doug: Sure.
They drag it toward the truck and lean it against the horn. The walkers move toward the sound but are blocked by the barricade.
Clem: It's working!
Jane: Come on!
Jane,Clem,and Doug enter the trailer, finding two walkers inside. Another walks up behind Clem.
Clem kicks the walker's knee in, making it fall, and then stabs it in the head.
Jane kills the other walker and Doug kills the other.
Jane: Come on.
The horn stops, and the walkers start to turn back to Sarah and Luke's trailer.
Doug: Crap!
Jane:We gotta move it!
Jane,Clem,and Doug leave the trailer and run to the other one. Clem tries to open the door.
Clem: It's locked!
Jane:Then try something else!
Clem kicks on the door.
Luke:Please, sarah.
Luke:Come on.
Jane:You're gonna need to use more force than that.
Doug:Put some muscle into it!
Jane:We'll hold them off, just get us in there!
Jane and Doug kills some of the approaching walkers. Clem kicks the door.
Jane: Hurry!
Clem kicks the door again, and it opens. They run into the trailer and close the door.
Jane:Help me block this.
Jane: Hurry!
They push a sideboard in front of the door. Sarah screams.
Luke: Sarah, please.
Luke:Who's out there?
Clem and Doug: Luke!
Luke leaves the room and walks up to Clem,Jane,and Doug, holding his injured side.
Luke: Clem?
Luke: Doug?
Luke:Oh, thank god.
Luke:Did nick find you?
Luke:He made a run for it, looking for help.
Clem:We saw him outside.
Jane:Look, he was out there.
Doug:But we took care of him, ya know.
Luke: Fuck.
Luke:When I heard y'all banging through the door.
Luke:I thought the walkers'd come to take what's left of us.
Clem: Luke, are you alright?
Luke:I'm, uh, I'm walkin'.
Luke:Can't do much else, though. Luke: Sarah, she's another story.
Luke:I don't know what to do about her.
Jane:What's the matter?
Luke:You gotta help.
They enter the room in the trailer, where Sarah is sitting on the floor.
Luke: Sarah, look.
Luke:Look, it's clem.
Luke: See?
Luke:It's just like I told you, they're okay.
Clem:What's she doing?
Doug:Can you get up?
Luke:I don't know what to do.
Luke:I can't snap her out of it, okay?
Luke:I tried to carry her, but I guess carver messed me up pretty good back there.
Luke:I dunno, it's just, after carlos, she just lost it.
Luke:Started running through the woods like a maniac.
Luke:I chased her for I don't know how long, and then well, she saw this mobile home, made a beeline right for it.
Luke:I'm just glad y'all are here.
Jane:We're not outta the woods yet.
Luke:What are we gonna do about her?
Luke:We gotta do something.
Clem:Maybe she'll listen to me?
Luke: Maybe.
Jane:Listen, I, uh.
Jane:They're gonna tear this place open pretty soon.
Jane:We can't stay.
Jane:So we gotta get her up, or we gotta.
Doug: Jane respectfully shut up.
Luke:Well, I've been trying.
Luke:I've been trying for hours.
Luke:I can barely get her to look at me.
Luke: Clem?
Clem kneels in front of Sarah.
Clem: Sarah?
Clem: It's me.
Sarah looks at Clem.
Sarah: Hi.
Clem:I need you to listen to me, okay? Clem:It's important.
Clem:I know how you feel right now. Clem:It's one of the worst feelings in the world.
Clem:Ever since the walkers, so many people I know have died.
Clem:People I love.
Clem:And for stupid reasons.
Walkers start pounding on the windows.
Jane:Crap, we're surrounded.
Jane:What about the skylight?
Luke: All we got.
Jane: Clem, there's no time!
Luke: Clem, listen.
Luke: Jane might be right.
Doug: Shut up, luke.
Clem:When everything started, I met my friend lee.
Clem:He tried to help me find my parents.
Clem:He protected me more than anyone else in my whole life.
Clem:I was so scared.
Sarah:But you're still here.
Clem:Because he taught me to be strong.
Clem:Even when I'm scared.
Clem:Because he wants me to live. Clem:And your dad protected you because he wanted you to live.
Clem:He would still want that.
Clem gives Sarah her glasses, and she puts them on.
The front door partially opens as walkers push back the barricade.
Jane:Get to the skylight!
Jane: Now!
Luke:C'mon, I'll boost you!
Jane pushes the barricade against the door. Luke tries to help Clem up to the skylight but drops her and grabs his injured side.
Luke: Agh!
Luke:Ugh, damn it!
Jane:What's going on back there?!
Luke: My ribs.
Doug: Luke, I'll boost you.
Doug helps Luke up to the skylight.
Luke sticks his hand out.
Luke: C'mon.
Jane: Luke, get over here and help me hold this!
Doug: Jane get over here!
Jane: Why?
Doug:Because we're getting out of here.
Jane runs into the room and closes the door.
Doug boosts Jane up through the skylight.
Luke:Okay, come on!
Jane: Clem!
Clem: Sarah, we have to go.
Doug:Are you listening?!
Jane: Now, Clementine!
Jane:If she doesn't want to go, you can't make her!
Jane:Don't let her take you down, too! Jane:Not again.
Jane:Look, I know what you're trying to do, and it's not going to work.
Sarah:I can't, I can't, I can't.
Sarah:Daddy, I'm.
Clem slaps Sarah.
Clem: Move!
Clem grabs Sarah's hands and pulls her to her feet.
Walkers break in.
Jane: Clementine!
Clem: Grab her!
Clem and Sarah climb through the skylight.
Jane: We gotta go.
Luke: Doug!
Jane: Come on!
Doug: Go!
The group can't see Doug anymore, but they hear him.
Doug:Get the fuck off me!
Clem: No!
They no longer hear him, just walkers.
Jane: Come on.
The group climbs down from the roof.
The group walks through the forest.
Luke:Okay, look, I hate to ask this, but are we there yet?
Jane:We're not far.
Clem:You did good getting out of there.
Clem:Now you gotta keep it up.
Sarah:But, I'm not okay.
Clem:Just don't let me down, please.
Jane:She just needs a little time, clem. Jane:Leave her be for a bit.
Clem walks up to Jane.
Jane:I don't know about this.
Jane:The way she is.
Jane:She's gonna kill someone else.
Clem:What happened in there?
Clem:When we went in there, you were ready to help, but then something changed.
Jane:Look, I'd just, I'd seen that kind of thing before.
Jane:I just didn't want to stick around for the bitter end.
Jane:Sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh.
Clem:Does that mean you'd turn on me?
Clem:If I was hurt or something?
Jane: No, I mean.
Jane: Clem, I wouldn't have to.
Jane:Just because you got her out of there today doesn't mean you saved her.
Clem: Like how lee saved doug, and how doug saved us.
Jane:Exactly.
Jane:Trust me, I tried to save jaime too.
Jane:But she gave up.
Luke:I just, I can't believe it.
Luke:Soon as doug put me up there, I was the first one up on the roof.
Luke:Like I had already made up my mind.
Jane:And when you really look at it, maybe it's better this way?
Jane:For everyone.
Jane: Luke, you can't let it eat away at you.
Luke: Well, I can't forget it.
Jane:I dragged my sister across four states.
Jane:And every morning, she'd say she wasn't getting up.
Jane:So I'd convince her.
Jane:Or push her.
Jane:Or goddamn carry her, if I had to.
Jane:Until this time, walkers cornered us.
Jane:Forced us to the roof.
Jane:And then when they kept coming, I couldn't make her jump. Jane:Couldn't throw her.
Jane:So I tried something else.
Jane:I told her she could have what she wanted.
Jane:And I left her there.
Jane:Jumped to the next building over by myself.
Luke:You left your sister?
Clem:How could you leave your sister?
Jane: I don't know.
Jane:It killed me for a long time.
Jane:But I finally realized that I'd put her on a forced march through hell when all she really wanted was for me to let her go.
Jane: Sarah was that way, too.
Luke: Jane.
Jane:No regard for her own safety.
Jane: Or ours.
Clem: Sarah and jaime aren't the same person.
Clem:We don't know she'll end up like that.
Jane: People don't change.
Clem says nothing.
Jane: Come on.
Jane:Let's get back to your friends.
The group returns to the others.
Mike: Son of a bitch.
Mike:You found 'em!
Luke:Yeah, I'm a little amazed myself, to tell you the truth.
Luke:If it weren't for clem,jane,and doug, well, I don't know what would've happened.
Lee: Where is doug?
Jane:He got separated from us or he's dead.
Lee:You better hope he's still alive.
Rebecca,with the help of Bonnie, approaches the others.
Rebecca: Sarah, how you doing, hon?
Rebecca tries to put her hand on Sarah's shoulder, but she shrugs it away.
Rebecca:That's okay, sweetie. Rebecca:Whenever you're ready, I'm just glad you're here.
Rebecca:But wait, wait.
Rebecca:Where's nick?
Luke:Uh, rebecca, how about we go for a walk for a minute?
Luke and Rebecca walk a short distance away.
Bonnie:Let's just give 'em some space. I have something I need to talk to you about, too.
Rebecca: No, no.
Bonnie: I ain't gonna sugarcoat this. Bonnie:That baby's coming even faster than rebecca's letting on.
Bonnie:But I was hoping you might know.
Bonnie:Does luke know anything about babies?
Bonnie:Has he, I dunno, mentioned carlos teaching him anything?
Clem: Kenny had a family.
Clem:He could help.
Clem:Where is he?
Bonnie looks over at a nearby tent.
Bonnie:He went in there after you left.
Bonnie:He brought Sarita in there not long after you left.
Bonnie:I don't know if he's done it yet.
Clem:I'll go in there.
Bonnie:Thank you, clem.
Bonnie:I really do think that might be best.
Clem enters the tent. Kenny is sitting on the floor with his back turned to Clem. Sarita lies on the floor in front of him, pale and blood-spattered.
Clem:We need your help.
Clem:With rebecca's baby.
Clem:No one else knows what to do.
Kenny:I'm sure shawn can do it.
Kenny:She didn't want me to wait.
Kenny:But I had to.
Kenny:In case by some crazy chance, she didn't come back.
Clem: Sarita was a good person.
Clem:I liked her.
Kenny:You know what it feels like to get beaten almost to death?
Kenny: Peaceful.
Kenny:It feels peaceful.
Kenny:It was like I was floating away, watching the whole thing happen to me.
Kenny:And then I woke up again, and nothin's changed.
Kenny:I'm still takin' a beating every day.
Kenny: Duck,katjaa,sarita.
Clem: Kenny, you're not dead.
Clem:We need you.
Kenny: Oh, yeah.
Kenny:Cause I've done so great with everything else in my goddamn life.
Kenny:Why the hell couldn't carver have just finished me off?
Kenny:Obviously, I ain't helping anyone by being here.
Clem:I'm just worried about you.
Clem:I don't want you to stay in here all alone.

Kenny: Hmph.
Kenny:I've seen you take care of yourself more than any three adults put together.

Kenny touches his wounded eye.
Kenny:Nah, don't worry yourself about this.

Kenny:Hasn't killed me yet, anyway.
Clem:Maybe shawn can look at it for you?
Luke: Oh, shit!
Luke:Does that mean what I think it does?
Ben:What are we supposed to do?!
Clem:We should see what's going on.
