New York, Bellevue Hospital
Saturday, 6:42pm....The two women found themselves back out in the hallway where they had originally started as they waited for news about their son. Emma had resumed her anxiety riddled leg bouncing in a chair accompanied by nail biting as Regina took to pacing, a habit she tried to resist when stressed but it was nearly unavoidable. "Stop biting your nails, Emma."
"Yeah? Well how about you maybe give North to South a try, Magellan." The blonde makes a vague pointed gesture as where the Mayor had been patrolling from side to side. "They're going to have to come re-tile the floor if you keep at it like that."
Regina rolls her eyes with a scoff but yet the words pull a little smile that she tries to fight. This woman could be so much like her mother an not even know it, she even saw it in Henry at times. But sure enough her pacing pattern changes as plans begin to form behind those dark eyes. "We have to get Snow back to Maine... back to Storybrooke." It's a mumbled comment to herself but it's just loud enough for the other woman to pick up.
Emma's knees stop their movement as she sits up a little higher. "It's not like we can have her transferred to Storybrooke General."
"Says who?"
"Oh come on, Regina..." Her legs had just restarted their bouncing when they stop yet again. "....it's not that simple and you know that. You can't just wave your hand and get what you want. Not out here you can't."
"Believe me, I am well aware of that unfortunate fact which is why we have to get her back to Storybrooke. Henry too, because if you think I'm going to allow him to sit in pain longer than he needs to be then y-.."
"I know, I know..." Emma holds a hand up, a gesture to signify that she was just as fed up with the situation as well. "What I meant was how do you suggest we get her there? I'm on board with that plan but how would we do it? Storybrooke doesn't exist for anyone else but us and it's not like they are just going to hand her over along with the keys to an ambulance. She's already being transferred to another hospital to be treated, I don't know how many times they'll be willing to do that in the condition she's in." In admission of her own words, Emma's head drops; her hair falling forward for a several seconds in stillness. The realness of her words hitting her harder than she had prepared for. With a huff she runs her fingers through her hair, shoving it away from her face as she picks her head back up.
"Ms. Emma? Ms. Regina?" The new voice rings down the the hall as a nurse approaches them. "Henry is out of surgery and is in recovery." The woman comes to a stop in front of them as she pulls up the sleeves of her scrub jacket. "He did excellent, no issues at all. You two should be able to see him soon. He'll still be drowsy but he should be conscious enough to understand you. Do either of you have any questions for me?"
Regina and Emma look at each other and the eldest of the two takes the lead. "When will he be able to go home?"
The nurse folds her hands neatly in front of her. "I can't say when exactly but it'll probably be a few days so he can be evaluated. They've requested a consult for him with a neurologist so he'll need to be cleared with them as well before they'll discharge him. He'll need to follow up with ortho as well as physical therapy-..." She watches as both women's faces fall. "Oh, don't worry! This is all practically routine after what he's been through. They just want to cross their 'T's' and dot their 'I's' before allowing him to leave. You understand." The nurse softly smiles as she nods, her eyes glancing from one to the other.
