New York, Mount Sinai Hospital
Sunday, 7:19am...
It's over an hour before Regina finally exited the dreaded room only to find the one and only Prince Charming sitting right outside the door as though he was keeping guard. He looks utterly bedraggled as he sports a thicker five o'clock shadow than she was used to seeing on his face. "David?" He stands to greet her, the fire in his eyes practically gone. "You could have come in."He nods slightly as his hands find their way to his front pockets, a move she recognizes as something Emma would do. "I know but I thought you might prefer some time alone with her." He was right of course. Regina still found certain situations difficult to be her true self, but whenever she was alone with Snow?... there was never that issue, regardless of the situation.
A stiff moment of awkwardness tries to pass between them but Regina won't let it linger. She leans over and touches his arm as she motions back to the chair he'd been occupying. "I um, ...I think we need to talk about where we go from here."
Immediately, David sits and begins to shake his head as his shoulders dropped. "I can't do it, Regina... I can't..." Relief poured over the Mayor but it doesn't last long. "...but I can't leave her like this either. This isn't what she would have wanted."
Regina settles into the chair beside him, turning in his direction with a gentle hand laid against his back between his shoulder blades. "David, I know there is nothing under the sun that you wouldn't do for Snow... but I want you to understand that if you or Emma decide on anything that leads to that ventilator being turned off, then the two of you will have me to deal with." Looking her way, he can see she means every word. "What I meant was that we need to discuss how we'll get her back to Storybrooke."
He conjures up is a sad nod. "Emma mentioned something about that earlier. What's the plan? What do you need me to do?"
"Well... that's what I'm trying to figure out, I just need time which thankfully we have." She takes a deep breath as she watched two nurses down the hall as they talked amongst themselves as though they were keeping secrets. "There are some calls I need to make today but I can have Killian come pick Neal up, give you and Emma some breathing room. Or I can have Robin take him back home if you want."
David sits silent for a few seconds, his eye painfully studying the glossy linoleum as he thinks the offer over. Snow would like to see her son when she woke... if she woke... but he also knows his wife would much prefer her child to not necessarily witness his mother in the state she was in. "I think-... I think that might be a good idea. Snow would want him somewhere safe.." He softly chuckles to himself as he leans forward, rubbing his scruffy face with both hands. "...I also don't think she'd want him to miss too much school either. Are you sure Robin won't mind?"
"Don't be absurd. We are in this catastrophe together. Robin can take the boys back home as well as keep an eye on the town and then we'll.... we'll figure this whole thing out." Her hands gives a single pat against his back before finally sliding away.
"You said you had some calls to make. To who? Surely not Blue and the faeries."
"If I must then I must, but that group of harpies are currently not on my list. I need to call Jane and let her know that I'll most likely be out of the office the rest of this week or possibly longer. I was also going to reach out to Principal Hoffman and let him know what's happened, then give Ruby a call. She and Granny can help Robin with the boys until we can get back." She sighs heavily as she runs her fingers through her hair as she knew the call to the Wolf might just be the hardest of them all. "...lastly, Gold."
