Groaning, I tossed and turned in my bed. I opened my eyes briefly and looked at the clock: 2 a.m.

Sighing, I closed my eyes again, wondering why I woke up just three hours after going to sleep. The question was quickly answered when I heard a clinking noise coming from the direction of my window.

Confused, I threw off my blanket and tiptoed to the window. Looking out, I saw a blond head standing in our driveway. Carefully, I opened the window and leaned out.

"JJ, what are you doing here?" I hissed softly to avoid waking my parents.

"Jen, come down!"

"It's 2 a.m., idiot." I laughed, shaking my head.

"I know, but I wanted to show you something." he replied, excitement evident on his face.

"Alright, give me two minutes." I said, grabbing a few things and putting on a hoodie.

I tried to walk down the stairs as quietly as possible to leave unnoticed. Luckily, my parents were deep sleepers, so I quickly made it outside to JJ.

"Hi." I smiled as I reached him.

"Hey." he smiled back, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer. At this point I couldn't deny the butterflies in my stomach.

Then, his lips found mine. We shared a gentle kiss, and I smiled into it.

"I've missed this." JJ mumbled, still grinning from ear to ear.

I blushed.

"Come on now." he said, pulling me up the street a little where his motorcycle was parked. The boy helped me up before driving off.

After a while, we arrived at a more quiet part of the beach and walked for a few more minutes through the cool sand.

"Where are we going?" I asked, looking around but barely able to make out anything else around me except JJ himself.

"Just trust me." The blonde boy giggled before we arrived at an old-looking cabin.

It was a bit run-down and didn't look very stable, but when JJ pulled me inside, my jaw dropped.

Looking through a large hole in the roof, you could have the perfect view of the starry sky. It was simply breathtaking.

Quickly, he spread out a blanket and pulled me down onto it. Soon we were lying arm in arm, admiring the twinkling dots in the sky.

"It's so mesmerizing." I said, admiring the stars as if they were little diamonds.

"You're ethereal though.." JJ replied, sending a warm feeling through my whole body as I turned to look at him.

I smiled happily as I felt his hands travel down to my hips, holding me close and secure. Without wasting another second, he connected our lips in a passionate kiss.

My hands reached to grab a strand of his hair, deepening the kiss even more.

I didn't know what it was that made me feel so unbelievably safe in JJ's presence, but I knew that I didn't want this feeling to vanish.

Even though it was bound to happen at some point. I just didn't want to admit it yet, so I fell deeper and deeper.

Suddenly my eyes fluttered open. It took a few seconds to realize where I was, and then I gasped.

"Fuck!" I yelled out before grabbing my phone and looking at the display.

It was already 9 a.m.

My parents were gonna kill me.

Feeling anxious, I shook JJ's arm in a panic. "Wake up!"

The boy was quick to open his eyes, not really understanding what I was saying at first, but then he jumped up in shock as well.

"Oh god..."

We quickly picked everything up, hurrying to get back to my parents' house, even though it wouldn't change anything. I wasn't home, and that's what mattered to them.

My heart nearly stopped when we turned into the driveway and I saw my mom standing at the window.

I begged JJ to just go home and let me handle the situation, but the blonde insisted on apologizing to my parents in person.

I knew it wouldn't end well for him, but the stubborn boy wasn't ready to follow my advice.

Biting my lip, I entered the house with JJ close behind me, wanting to turn around and leave immediately.

"Jenara Demeri, can you tell me where you were all night? I was worried sick." my mom demanded.

"You didn't even answer your phone." my dad added.

"I'm sorry." I muttered quietly.

"This wasn't planned." JJ interjected.

"So it was your plan?" my mom eyed him critically.

"Yes, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to cause any trouble."

"But you did, and if you continue to get my daughter into trouble, that's it for you." she snapped angrily.

"Mom, that's enough!" I intervened, earning a furious glare.

"These Pogues are bad influence, can't you see that?"

"What do you know about them?" I shouted.

"Better get out of here, boy." my dad said, and I sensed the situation could turn ugly.

I turned to JJ and gave him an apologetic look, "I'm so sorry..."

He gave me a quick, forced smile before walking out the front door with his head down. I felt so bad as I watched him walk toward his bike with broken confidence.

"What the fuck were you thinking?" I turned back to my mother, looking at her in disbelief.

"He is not the bad guy here, you guys are. I will hang out with them as much as I want and need to, and if you have a problem with that then keep it to yourself because I don't want to hear any of that bullshit."

And with that, I left my parents speechless, walking off to my room without another word. I won't let anyone control my life ever again except myself.
