I walked into my house and let go of all my heavy bags. The mall was way too fun. I totally forgot how much I missed my shoes. It was great.
My mom insisted that the babies stay home with her, to let me have my fun time. It worked for me.
“Mom, I’m home.” I called out. There wasn’t anyone in the living room, but I heard some talking upstairs.
“Oh, up here Sweetie! You have guests, we’ll be down there in a second!” she called back. Oh, it must be Kyle’s parents.. Well, I guess I’ll just take my stuff upstairs and then come back down. Anna-Bell had to go home, so it was a very boring drive home.
I grabbed my bags and hiked up the 27 steps to the second floor, to my room. I threw my bags onto my bed, and gave myself a quick once over in my mirror.
Where are my kids?
I went back down stairs and a few people were sitting on the couch, some I didn’t know. I did see my baby… In the arm of someone I have never seen before. There were my parents, my sister, 2 guys and a girl.
“Mom..” I said, glaring at her. I didn’t like people holding my child, especially if I have never seen them, or have met them before.
“Oh, sorry dear. Veronica, introduce her.” she scolded. Veronica rolled her eyes and got up.
“This is my husband.” She pointed to the guy sitting next to her, holding Ryleigh. He looked up and smiled at me.
He was hot. Even for having both dark hair and eyes. Sexy.
“This is our friend, Patrick.” He studied me before he gave a tiny wave. His hands were intertwined with each other and placed in his lap. He was hot. His eyes were dark too, and his hair wasn’t that dark.
I knew instantly that he was a vampire, easy.
He kept on staring at me, but I had to keep my attention to my sister.
“Then, this is Kristina. We were friends with her when we were babies. You remember her, right?” I nodded my head, I remembered her.
“Yeah.. Hey.” I greeted her. She smiled and gave me a tiny ‘hey‘. Let’s see. Who had Ryland?
“Umm.. Where’s my baby..” I trailed off. Looking for him. My eyes searching in all directions.
“Mom just had him…” Veronica said, looking around the room worried because she couldn’t find him either.
I looked at my mom and she ran up the stairs.
“Great..” I sighed. “How do you loose a BABY.” I said, looking at V.
“I didn’t loose him!” she quickly replied back. I sighed, shaking my head.
Mom came downstairs holding him.
“Say Mommy, I wanted to stay in your room..” she said, trying to make my mood better.
“Ha-ha, very funny. Now give me my baby.” I said, holding my arms out for him.
“A very protective mother. I like that. Shows how much you care for your babies.” It was Patrick that said this. His voice is deep, smooth, and sexy. Hazel likes this.
“Protective, indeed.” My father agreed. I blushed.
“Yeah, thanks guys.” I said embarrassed. It wouldn’t be as bad if Patrick would not have said it.
“Ha-ha someone is a bright red..” My sister joked. I glared at her.
Her husband playfully hit her.
“Stop. You’re embarrassing her. I remember you were the same way when you met me.” he recognized.
She looked away, playing with her hair.
Then he turned to me and winked. I smiled at him.
There was a knock at the door, so I went to go answer it.
Of course, it was Kyle.
“Why Hello there Bastard-that-left-me-with-a-broken-heart. What do you want?” I greeted him. He sighed, shook his head, and rolled his eyes.
“Kids. Remember.” he said. “You don’t have to be that mean to me Hazel.”
“You’re right. I don’t.” I snapped, us both walking into the living room.
“Hazel, c’mon. You could be a lot nicer.” he whined. I looked at him and he gave me a look, that him and I both knew, I couldn’t resist.
“Fine..” I sighed in defeat. He gave me a slight smiled and tried to hug me.
“Don’t push it.” I said . He smiled and chuckled.
I shook my head and sighed.
He held his hands out for the baby, so I sadly had to give him over.
“You have company over?” he asked. Ha, as if he didn’t know.
“Yeah. Family friends.” I sighed.
He stopped and stiffened up, drawing in a sharp breath of air. A low growl started in his chest.
“What is your issue..” I snapped. He only turned his eyes to look at him.
“Who is here.” he said in between his teeth.
“Um, V, her husband, and a few friends.” What the hell is his issue.
“Who are the friends..” he hissed.
“Um, their names are Patrick and Kristina..”
His head snapped towards the living room, in which we could both hear footsteps heading our way.
“Kyle.” Patrick said with venom in his voice.
“Patrick.” Kyle said the same way.
Veronica cussed under her breath.
“Hazel, you should leave..” She said, walking my way.
“What’s going on…” I questioned. I believed that I deserved to know.
“Nothing.. But you should leave.” she said, about to tug my arm to pull me out of my house.
“If it’s nothing, then why can I not stay.” I challenged.
“Because Hazel!” she snapped.
“Not leaving then.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Hazel.”
“Veronica.”
She glared at me, but gave up. I filled up with joy that I won, but then went back to my panicked mood again.
“She’s mine.” Kyle snarled. Patrick threw his head back and laughed.
“Silly boy. No she is not. You have someone else. She is fair game.” He mocked.
“She is still mine. She still loves me.” Kyle said, creeping closer a bit.
I didn’t like where this was going, and I didn’t like how I thought it was about me.
“You don’t love her. You are just the father of the kids.” He snapped.
Yup, it was definitely about me.
“What’s going on..” I said wearily.
My eyes were going back and forth between Patrick and Kyle.
They were fighting over me, one I didn’t know and the other I didn’t care about anymore.
“Kyle just read some thoughts of Patrick.. Which was rude. So now Kyle is pissed off.” Veronica summarized for me.
“Oh, that’s just swell.” I commented, using sarcasm.
“Indeed.” My sister agreed.
