Chapter 5: Fawn

With college, your day job, and your podcast to keep track of it was hard to find time for yourself.

Too bad you couldn't fit in at least one day off this week.

Alastor had been absent since Monday, leaving you to your own business until today, Friday. It was peaceful, though you gotta admit...

You kinda missed having the attention-seeking deer around.

He added a form of entertainment to your otherwise dull life. To you, a normal day looks like this: Wake up, get ready, go to school/work, come back home (occasionally with a friend), study/clean, sleep, and repeat. Having Alastor around– your literal demon boyfriend, provided a little spice in your life, and you liked that. You craved it.

Doesn't mean you'd just follow him into Hell though. Just to escape your boring daily routine? Nah, you're good. You'd much rather live a semi-boring life at times than go to Hell and suffer an eternity of terror and torment. Little devils with pitchforks and fangs don't sound so bad, but for eternity? No, thank you. You have to keep reminding yourself that Alastor isn't just some silly little guy– he's a demon overlord of Hell, capable of disastrous things if provoked. It's best to keep him at a distance, at least for now.

As for your podcast, people seemed to switch up real fast after you released your latest Narrative, claiming that they never found it funny or that they thought it was pathetic overkill of the posters to upload it onto social media.

It's nice to have people defending you, but kind of humorous how it only started after you made an amicable upload about it.

On the bright side, it did bring a lot more listeners to your podcast and YouTube channel.

Your podcast wasn't a reliable source of income though which is why you've been spending all week job hunting, but in this economy, you'd often be lucky to get a response back. You weren't sure how much longer these extra viewers would keep supporting you so you had to act quickly. This is why your main friends/team were over to help you research on this New Orleans Slayer for your next podcast. Oddly enough, despite it being highly requested, there seem to be no other uploads about it on other channels.

"I gotta say, when we all came over I was expecting to see that red guy had like, possessed you or something," Zephyr (the friend who had the idea to summon a demon in the first place) said. You gave him a deadpan look and he put his hands up in defense. "It's good that he didn't! But like, what happened to him?"

"Yeah I haven't even heard you mention him since the night we summoned him– and even then it was only because we were all intoxicated," your other friend, Coraline, commented.

"Agh... forget about him," you dismissed, "He's no threat," I hope.

Coraline looked skeptical, "Are you sure? Because he seemed... pretty threatening when he was here. He eyed us like prey."

"Or food."

"Zephyr!"

"What? I'm just stating the facts."

"What do you mean 'facts'?" You mulled, finally looking up from your desktop computer at Zephyr, who was using your spare laptop. "Aside from his name and species, we know damn near nothing about him."

"His name, species, and face. I don't remember a lot from that night, but his face is imprinted in my mind and he looks crazy similar to that old radio host from the 20s."

He turned the laptop so you could see and sure enough, it was another article about how this 'Alastor LeBlanc' person could have been the New Orleans Slayer. It sends a chill up your spine knowing that you could be "dating" the very person you're researching about.
