I'm going to skip right up to when the gang are all about to leave to train in the heart kingdom because honestly most of the stuff ryu would either contribute nothing or is that arc with the people with insanely low magic power and I find that arc boring despite the fact that it's actually interesting
Just after the captains battle
Ryu is hyped up and his constantly clashing one v one against Leo
They also regularly do 2 v 1 battles against Feugoleon
But this time ryu is fighting against Leo
Ryu: so Pyro you are train in the heart kingdom then
Leo: You bet shade I'm going to go to this kingdom learn their type of magic and surpass my limits as much as I can and then I'll be stronger than you
Ryu: heh I'll be waiting for that day but I've decided to take a different path

Ryu: well since I have arcane stage magic the only way I can grow stronger is by doing good old training and I've decided to do that by going on a journey

Ryu: yeah I'm going to explore all through the strong magic regions fight strong beasts and survive it's what Yami trained me too do so I'll go back to the basics and work my way up and after those six months I'll be the strongest

And
An explosion occurs both are winded and either burned or scarred
Ryu: heh
Leo: HAHAHAHA
They both burst out laughing
Ryu: we'll see ya Pyro
Leo: see ya soon shade
Ryu takes to the sky
Leo runs off
Ryu: heh how did I ever get so lucky to have such an awesome rival
Leo: I will catch up too you shade after all I can't let you become the strongest so easily
