Never Grow Up.

Four hours. Four hours is how long I had been putting off packing. And I was going to end that now I don't know what's wrong with me. Typically, I'm very good at keeping myself productive and organized, but these last few weeks I've been seriously slacking.

Twenty Five minutes of folding and packing my life away and I was done. All that procrastination for that? Wow Veronica, good job. I finished lecturing myself and went to lie down and hopefully take a nap when my phone dinged.

Hey sweetheart! It's been a while, we all miss you.

Hey El! It has been! I miss you guys too 🥲
How are the boys doing?

Ellen
They're good! Still being pains.
But I texted you because I was wondering what your schedule is like in three days until two weeks from now?

Veronica
Oh! Well school is out for the year finally! And had taken the next couple weeks off of work to visit home for a bit! Why?

Ellen
Well in a few days we had planned to do a big family ski trip, me and the boys were just wanting to ask if you'd come with us!

Veronica
Ellen I'd love too! My flight home is tomorrow so I should be they're just in time to go! Count me in.

Ellen
Awesome!! I can't wait to see you lil girl. Expect the biggest hug from me when you get here.

I smiled at my phone before turning it off and putting it down on the bed next to me. Ellen's always been so close to me after my mom left me and my dad when I was younger. Jim Hughes and my dad Gabe Evens we're close friends growing up. When dad (reluctantly.) told the Hughes couple that my mom had left, they stepped in to help my dad raise me.

I was brought out of my thoughts when my phone once again dinged, I looked at it expecting something else from Ellen but I was wrong, however not disappointed at all.

I found myself yet again smiling at my phone, what can I say? It's the Hughes effect. They just make you smile. I turned my phone back off and back onto my nightstand and got up.

"Great. More packing."

(I hope you enjoyed the first real chapter 🫢 I tried making decently long but I lack creativity so bear with me if some of these chapters are pretty short, that's all for now!!)
